The next release to come from the Toy Tonics crew takes one more step into a futuristic sound that connects Broken Beat, House & Neo Soul. Da Real EP is a production between Martinique born, France based dancer and music producer Fényan and Kosmo Kint, a soul singer raised in New York who now bases himself in Berlin as part of the Toy Tonics family.

Fényan & Kosmo Kint met shortly after Kosmo Kint's first release on Toy Tonics, the magical ‘Get Lost EP’ with french producer Mangabey, 3 magical and unique pieces of music inspired by the UK Jazz sound and break-beat which turned heads.

Fényan's rhythms are special, the groove is unique making you dance differently - it could be down to his dancing background, when he’s not producing he travels around the world teaching dance with his own dance company and regularly judges at dance battles worldwide. Besides dancing, he’s been producing beats since the age of 19 on his MPC, influenced by the great names of deep jazz and fusion, but also inspired by the music from his home country of Martinqiue: Zouk, Biguine, Bélè, which you can feel through the programming of his beats.
Kosmo Kint has lived in Berlin for three years. He came from NYC where he sang in Soul bands, hanging out with musicians and also writing music for other artists. He’s one of the many artists that have made the move from the Big Apple to Berlin recently. He joined the Toy Tonics crew almost 2 years ago to work on new styles between House, Soul, Disco and R&B.
 
In Da Real EP the pair create a sensual and delicious selection of 3 original works, the EP also includes 2 remixes from Jerome Syndenham (remix + instrumental version). Kosmo’s light and airy vocals paired together with the skipping grooves and beats from Fényan complete this tasty EP, perfectly aligned for the forthcoming summer season.

MIMS is excited to premiere a brilliant new remix from pioneering broken beat producer and Bugz in the attic founder, Daz-I-Kue, for Portuguese producer Fradingo. Featuring the brilliant vocals of another broken beat legend, Colonel Red. 

Daz should need little introduction to fans of broken beat and far beyond, thanks to his history as a pioneer of the broken beat sound, both solo and with Bugz in the attic, his residency at legendary broken beat party, Co-Op, the hugely successful DKD project with Dego and Kaidi Tatham and countless remixes, for the likes of Marcos Valle, Frank-N-Dank, El-B, Ty, Dele Sosimi & Medlar, Mark De Clive-Lowe, and 4Hero. Not forgetting his soul, boogie and funk orientated BB Boogie project.

A singer AND producer with esteemed pedigree in funk, soul and electronica, Colonel Red has worked alongside an impressive list of artists including Teddy Pendergrass, Anita Baker, Bugz In The Attic, Amp Fiddler, Alex Attias, Daz-I-Kue himself, and many more besides. Four albums now bear his name, among them his debut for legendary broken beat label, People, Tokyo Dawn Records, and recently Inkswel's Inner Tribe Records, in collaboration  with the very same producer. 

Hailing from and now back in Portugal after a long tenure in London, Fradinho is a DJ, producer and self-described broken beat fanatic, who has remixed the likes of  Glasgow's Nimbus Sextet, and Str4ta , a collaboration between Gilles Peterson and Incognito's Jean-Paul Maunick aka Bluey, inspired by 80s Brit Funk,

"Much We Have", with Colonel Red will be released on his own Eclectic Beats Music on July 30th, with further remixes by Inkswel and Born74.

Brisbane’s Sampology has delivered a deadly uptempo mix, drawing the dots between record bag favourites and his new ‘Regrowth’ album, on his own Middle Name Records. 

The album marked an important milestone, as the musician and producer replaced record sampling with recording most of his samples from scratch, including string quartets, woodwind, full 20-piece choirs, vibraphones, double bass, various pianos and synths. Featured guests include Allysha Joy, Silentjay, and Seven Davis Jr.  

@sampology: “I put this mix together in my home studio where most of my music is recorded. It’s also where all my records live against the back wall. The turntables are usually set up on top of the piano, unless the lid is open and it’s mic-ed up for recording.  I felt quite keen to share a strictly up-tempo club mix, given some of my recent mixes as well as my Worldwide FM show have been quite varied in tempo. I love being able to include moments in a club set like the Jimetta Rose & Voices of Creation song which is a very acoustic joyful choir, weaved in with acid house. Or the recent birdsong-infused Olof Dreijer reissue on Melodies International. Putting mixes together, and DJing in generally is probably the biggest influence on how I make my own music. I’ve also included two songs from my new album ‘Regrowth’.”
