2019.11.29 Benny (Live At Shwar Town Holiday Party)

Benny Ray was blessed enough to stumble upon a Gaia Tribe underground party in the spring of 2006, little did he know that this event would change the course of his life forever.  The vibe of Gaia Tribe parties was thicker than a snicker and for the first time in his life he was exposed to REAL underground house music and top notch ambiance as well as illegal outdoor renegades.  After less than a year of being exposed to underground rave culture and being heavily influenced by Luke Mandala, Dave D-luxx, Miles Airon, and Chad Benz among others, Benny and his friends decided to take the plunge and started to accumulate DJ gear piece by piece.  We were gifted a box of records from a local DJ and taught ourselves to DJ.  For many years Benny was an advocate of the Eugene, OR underground community.  He cut his teeth throwing warehouse parties, park parties, outdoor illegal parties and mansion parties.  He owned and teched aTurbo Sound TXD sound system and held a summer weekly residency at the Cowfish dance club in Eugene, OR.  Benny then moved to Portland, where he became obsessed with outboard production gear, sythersizers and drum machines took over Benny's focus and home space.  After a year in Portland, Benny made the move to Oakland, CA where a whole new world was opened up for him.  He began working with the Sub Society crew and throwing killer club nights at clubs like Harlot, Verso, Hawthorne, 1015, and Halcyon.
