Lumberjacks in Hell is a one-man mission founded in 2010 in Amsterdam by Marcel Vogel, as a family and platform for soulful artists around the globe. The seminal labels output is a testament to Marcel’s impeccable taste and golden eared A&R skill.  No gimmicks required, just a passion for raw, warm, soulful shades of house and disco. LIH has proudly released killer cuts by the DJ’s DJ Rahaan, Red Greg, Jamie 3:26 & Cratebugs, the late Soulphiction, Dan Shake, Karizma, Giovanni Damico,  Mendel, Rayko, Eddie C and the don that is Al Kent. 
For its next release, LIH takes a surprising turn with an eight track LP by Berliners Panna Cotta. This duo came together one summer evening on the legendary Berlin airfield of Tempelhof. Their debut album is the sonically sweet and heartfelt audio delight entitled ‘Sunrise’, produced, and curated with blissed-out, sun soaked, love filled days in mind.
Sitting somewhere between sultry disco and polished pop, French-born Alex Arslan, and Italian Riccardo Pirotto, takes the listener on a journey to the blissful planet joy. All of the tracks are composed, mixed, and mastered on vintage analog gear, maintaining a feeling of past, and making for a sublime combination of warm keys and heart beating drums.  The music is inspired by Panna Cotta’s soulful search for instant happiness and long-lasting love through  poetry in musical moments.

For our ninth offering we are delighted to welcome Lisbon based artist Larry Quest to the label. Larry is an astute producer adaptable to varying styles, strong in musicality and a particular flair for soulful, jazzy touches and classy deep house music. For the ‘Mystery Herd’ release we are treated to an EP richly inspired by the natural world and the colors within. Venus Girdle enjoys ethereal pads, a strong but distant kick and swelling percussion. Asian butterfly Alpine Black Swallowtail informs the next track, with its mountainous field-recording, gentle arpeggios and harmony of pads. Haliotis reverb swelling pads represent the waves, the synths and percussion, the spume and the bass groove embodying the sea. Nicobarica is a cool organic track with beautifully played keys, live guitar licks and a breezy rhythm section complete with rolling percussion all combining making for an infectious groove. Completing the EP is a spaced out, ambient take of Venus Girdle by Joe Morris!

Kasper Bjørke is no stranger to finding the sweet spot between emotion and groove. The Danish producer and selector's accolades are known far and wide - from being remixed by Nicolas Jaar to his excellent 2018 album on Kompakt Records, The Fifty Eleven Project - and now he's teamed up with the excellent Prom Night for a remix arriving on Prom Night Records on June 10th.

As a DJ he has performed at Panorama Bar, Rex Club, Robert Johnson and more, always bringing with him an emotive blend of Italo, funk, sleaze and house, and his remix is no different; a floaty trip through sun-kissed, shimmering waters.

wo Brazilian artists, Tabbi (from São Paulo) and Leca (from Florianópolis), met in New York, thousands of miles from home, yet instantly recognized something familiar — the pulse of Brazilian soul beating in their hearts. Coming from opposite ends of the country, each carried her own accent, memories, and unique cultural repertoire.

What began as a simple musical exchange soon became something greater: the start of a true friendship and an artistic partnership that now binds us forever.

During the creation of Tom da Raiz, we realized we were composing more than just a song. We were weaving our stories together, translating into sounds and words what it means to be a woman, an artist, and a Brazilian living far from Brazil. This track is an intimate manifesto about belonging, the courage to follow one’s own path, and the resilience needed to keep the essence alive despite distance and challenges.

The vocal-poem, written in Portuguese, speaks of resistance, strength, and courage — an open letter to all women who, like us, hold on to their dreams and identities, even when the world seems to demand they bend:

- Deixa o tempo desenhar as respostas
- Nem tudo se pede, nem tudo se força
- O rio não apressa o encontro com o mar
- O vento não empurra o que já sabe voar…

Each verse is a reminder that there is strength in silence, beauty in waiting, and freedom in staying true to yourself. It’s about finding balance between longing and freedom, between memory and future.

The name Tom da Raiz is a tribute to what shapes and sustains us. It represents our origins, our stories, and the pride of being who we are. It’s the echo of our roots resonating, even oceans away, reminding us that everything essential remains.
