Miss You

I got an Akai MPK Mini MK3 in the mail today, which I'll take with me around the world to do some on-the-road composing. Here's what I came up with playing around in my first hour. It's a catchy little riff, so I thought I'd share in case you want to get it stuck in your head!

These are all VST instruments in Cubase (technically Halion Sonic SE) and I'm very impressed with the quality. It's amazing how much you can do with just a tiny little keyboard. It's literally smaller than my laptop. I'm very excited about what I'll create with this thing!

Was having a bit of fun with my new recording setup yesterday. I recorded a bunch of tracks (might release some others later), and was very pleased with this blissful, floating jam

I'm totally in love with this setup. Barely even had to fiddle with it to get a truly fantastic, clear tone

Some tracks while jamming with my friends Tim Cristantiello (drums) and Brian Dickinson (bass). I'm pretty sure this was Brian's first time playing bass! Both of these guys sound awesome and it was a pleasure to explore these vibes with them!

The first couple tracks are pretty heavy and shreddy. It's not uncommon for jam sessions to open this way, in my experience. Eventually, that energy settled down into a beautiful, peaceful, zen-like flow. You can hear that particularly on the track "Moonlight Garden Dance". Enjoy!!

Recently I was dating this girl who was very into lo-fi hiphop/chillhop. It's not a genre I have explored much, but during one of my songwriting sessions recently I serendipitously started playing around with some warm synths and loungey beats. Lo and behold a few hours later, here's a simple song to chill you out a bit

This is my first take on the genre and is certainly oversimplified, but in any case, writing this track brought back some joyful memories of gently dancing with her in the kitchen after long days of adventures and fun. When I listen to it, that's precisely where I am

Infusions

A simple little track I wrote this afternoon. It reminds me a lot of the band Thievery Corporation, whom I love very much. They have such a unique, relaxing sound.

This song will likely be on my upcoming album, which I'll be releasing within the next month or so. Consider this a little sneak peak! But this isn't the final mix, so you'll still have some more to look forward to.

Around a year ago, I had this idea to make a funky arrangement of my favorite Christmas song, Greensleeves. I'm happy to say that that idea has come to fruition.
