I like how the bass is the lead instrument in this song. makes it stand out in the round. I'm so glad you made a more ominous interlude in the middle. I like a mixture of emotions in a song. and its an effective build up back to your funky baseline. 

Okay this is good stuff! Musically I like it very much. Somehow it makes me think of Powerful People by Gino Vanelli. It's probably the bassline. Early recordings by Prince also have this vibe. After 3 minutes the overall sound gets a bit dull in my ears. Then the.... 3.33! Surprise! Nice break. Haha, I was just about to lose my attention. The break was well timed!

Nice funky feel. I too know the one synth days. I had a DX-1. I used it for a one synth challenge - do check it out.

The track deserved more lead lines defined - the plucky sound just after this point might have been better for lead work during some points.

Nice track ; very well done, esp. given the very restained use of fx.  This YMO-ish bit I like in particular.

I love the story of how you started -- mine is similar -- one synth - but I had a Tascam 4 track cassette portal-studio.

I think the lead sound here could have been more exciting -- kind of held the track down instead of lifting it up

LONE CRUISER - WXCVBN99 SURREALISTIC MG-1 CHALLENGE

For KVR's Once Synth Challenge. KVR OSC 158. All sounds made with Cherry Audio's fantastic free plugin: Surrealistic MG-1 Plus.

The original Radioshack MG-1 happens to be the first synthesizer I ever owned, and it's what I first learned synthesis with. I sold it a couple of years ago, which I now somewhat regret. However, the plugin is amazing and it exceeds the original in many ways!

Various_Waves - My First Synthesizer

KVR Audio One Synth Challenge:  All tracks have to be done with the same synth, as directed.  This month (April 2022):  The Surrealistic MG-1 Plus.

This challenge hits close to home, because my first synth was the Radio Shack MG-1, which I bought with telemarketing money I earned from Kreepy Krauly in 1983 (pictured in synth photo).  Back then, for me, it was always a one-synth challenge every day, because it was all I had!  I created multi-tracks by recording onto cassette, overdubbing to reel-to-reel, and reversing the process.  

Track created in Apple Logic Pro, using 36 instances of the Surrealistic MG-1 Plus plug-in.  Only effects (all native) were EQ on a few tracks, along with some touches of distortion and parallel compression.

This has inspired me to release an album of tracks I made with just the MG-1 Plus, along with some old cassette copies of tracks I made with my MG-1, back in the early 80's.
