A personal journey of introspection, High Tide, Low Tide marks Kahia's debut project. It is primarily an Indie Folk, singer-songwriter album with further influences of electronica. The concept of the album describes likening emotions, feelings and thoughts to the movement of the tides, as they are ever changing. The aim is to find balance and peace through the knowledge of this, to find an equilibrium, a safe place with maximum stillness and serenity.

Sonically, the idea was to give the album a lo-fi aesthetic reminiscent of artists like Nick Drake and The Microphones. The album should be an authentic expression. That explains why much of it is kept raw, exposed and dry. It is full of emotion, energy and effort. It reflects many different states of mind that all come together to make the album.
