For our final mix of 2023, we have Kenny Blacksmith, a friend of the festival and an all-around top selector.

This London-based Scotsman played a pivotal role in London's esteemed SlothBoogie label for almost a decade. Now, in 2024, he unveils a new solo project, emphasising studio craftsmanship and a return to digging and sharing his extensive record collection.

In this mix, Ken takes you on a journey through his collection and shares some new favorites, seamlessly blending his taste for deeper dubs and acid cuts. Here's a quote from the man himself about the mix: “Using a combination of 12’s from recent digs in Berlin, Edinburgh, and London, alongside some sneaky unreleased gems, this mix has been compiled with the hope that it can transport you to a particularly special Friday at the Lighthouse. Especially folks living in Berlin know very well, how special it feels to welcome sunny days to the city after a long & grey winter. To provide you with some uplifting house tunes for the next bikeride to a nearby open air or a cheeky hangout with your friends in the park, we invited buddy Stikdorn for a vinyl only episode of our podcast series. 

Stikdorn has been an integral part of the demanding and high-quality techno scene in Cologne for many years. He played in every notable club in Cologne and is one of the best selectors in the city. Whether as founding member of the new Cologne vinyl label TSP or of the established label Henk Records which also provides the Henk Nacht at Gewölbe, you do not want to miss him anymore.

We’re celebrating something special today as the Hot Series marks its twentieth iteration courtesy of a duo we’ve had on our radar since the inception of the label. Going back to back in time with this one as @maitoooo & @bjeor take charge of the next one in the series, providing us with a recording of their set at La Cabane from a couple of months ago. Both contribute to the Belgian nightlife scene in a multitude of ways, which led them to cross paths at @horstartsandmusicfestival where the pair quickly saw eye to eye and formed a connection on & off the decks.

As you would expect from these two, their shared love for house music fully comes to fruition in this masterfully curated mix with each contributing his own intricate layers to create a beautiful tale of emotion and sound. A warm up set is always tricky to do well, but Max & Toon demonstrate their mastery and prove why they love to play warm up sets, especially the long ones. Over a floaty three and a half hour journey, the duo ascend to 125bpm, maintaining a deep and steady orbit that perfectly set the tone for the night’s stellar festivities. Both can be seen traversing Belgium’s festival landscape this summer. Among other party spots, you’ll catch Maito at @club_affair and Bjeor at this year’s @paradise-city-festival . See you there ;)

Dublin based DJ and visual artist Bull has been a consistent presence in the local and international scene over the past few years. Tender co-founder and resident for Strawberries, their love of the dancefloor and the cathartic moments it can bring translates into the music that can be heard throughout each set.
