The Promised Land

This piece was originally custom composed in autumn 2015 for a Game of Thrones spoof short. It was the lead-in to a young child's birthday party, which suddenly became very Red Wedding-ish. I have since made edits to the original piece and thought it would be fun to post the "new and ever so slightly improved" version. To me it conveys the mental image of Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, Hector Berlioz, and Lewis Carroll sitting down to tea together at midnight: dark, but cartoon-ish.

Fun fact: this was an exercise in rondo form.

Another fun fact: I did this using 100% Logic X stock samples! Don't disrespect the Logic monster. ;)

A short post-apocalyptic cue à la Bear McCreary ... and vintage horror films - intended to convey some deeply-rooted psychological fear of and/or morbid fascination with reanimated corpses. For some strange reason, it's perfectly fine to watch other people fall prey to the undead.

Take On Me

I created an a cappella jingle as promotional material for the Snow College Recycling Center. This piece is based on Gloria Estefan's "Turn the Beat Around."

The process from pre-draft idea to finished recording took perhaps three hours. The beginning and end bars are multitrack recordings of my voice. The underscore during dialogue is mostly made of vocal samples from a Take 6 Kurzweil library I borrowed from a professor — with the exception of the shaker noise and certain parts of the bass line, which are my own vocalizations.

Demo for electroniKEYS, an "analogue pianos" patch and Smart Controls layout designed for Logic X. It's inspired by the Yamaha CP-30 synth piano, the Roland Piano Plus series, and early Casiotones, though it doesn't attempt to recreate any one keyboard. (Plus it includes a DX-style Rhodes tone, so it's really not strictly an emulation of analogue keyboards.)
