49 square miles. Water on three sides. Two bridges. And one champion of Power Pop — The Real Numbers.

After years pursuing separate musical endeavors spanning the musical map, the songwriting duo of Dave Ambrose and Lawrence Grodeska have found their sweet spot in San Francisco. The pair met in 2008 through the digital wilds of Craigslist, both tired of the geek day job grind and dreaming of the same musical vision — part power pop, part quirky melodic rock, always tight, always tasty. Their shared love of powerful hooks, beautiful harmony and well-crafted compositions found a perfect compliment when veteran San Francisco pop maestro Chuck Lindo volunteered for bass and harmonies. Powerhouse percussionist Adam White completed their quest for the perfect rhythm section by punctuating tight arrangements behind lush chords and big melody.

The Real Numbers' debut album, "Welcome to the Numberhood", conjures an era of songwriting come and gone from commercial airwaves, but carried on by the likes of Fountains of Wayne, Ben Folds and The Feeling. Not afraid to embrace geekdom or plant tongue firmly in cheek, their smart yet smart-ass lyrics make mundane observations meaningful, amusing or both. 

The Real Numbers are riding high on accolades for their viral video sensation "Do the Wiggle!," a pop-paean to San Francisco's famous bicycle route. Half PSA, half goofy love letter to the beloved bikeway, the video has been featured on SFist, SF Weekly and the Huffington Post, among others, and The Real Numbers performed the song live on KFOG's World Famous Morning Show.
