This is my end of year composition made with a MAX MSP patch I created. Here is a portion of the write up to give you an idea as to what's going on..

My max MSP patch uses the speed of loops to alter the pitch as opposed to mapping one sound across a keyboard. As multiple loops can be played at the same time it allows for thick soundscapes that have the effect of slowing tape speed when the speed is altered. You select the loop you want to control by pressing any of the first 5 white keys on the MIDI keyboard (make sure the octave is on 0). To control the speed of loop 1 you hold down the first white key and increase the amount that the first MIDI control knob (labelled 1). This is the same as any of the other loops (3rd loop is 3rd key and 3rd MIDI control knob). All apart from the drums, that are controlled by the “Amount” slider located to the left of the octave control. The upper half of this slider controls the speed of the drums in forward speed, whilst the lower portion of the slider controls the speed backwards, allowing for vast range of textural sounds. The Mod wheel on the keyboard effects the Low Pass Filter for the drums and the MIDI control knob 7 controls the delay time for the drums.
