On her third full-length album, C. Lavender delves into her
experience with a profoundly impactful Buddhist meditation
centered in the sacrifice of the self as a source of liberation.

“Rupture in The Eternal Realm” is a musical reinterpretation and
compendium to C. Lavender’s experience studying the Tibetan
Buddhist meditation practice known as chöd. The practice
traditionally involves musical instruments including drums
(ḍamaru), trumpets (kangling), bells and chanting. Rather than try
to recreate the practice's musical ritual, C. Lavender used it as a
point of departure for reflecting on her inner connection with the
meditation, one which she continued to dive into throughout the
pandemic. The song titles are taken from lines within the
traditional chöd chant, which is akin to a musical composition and
serves as a visualization guide throughout the meditative process.
“Rupture in The Eternal Realm” creates a new paradigm in the
grand tradition of women electronic music composers such as
Laurie Anderson, Éliane Radigue, and Pauline Oliveros connecting
forward-thinking music with Buddhist principals.

The album features recordings made on Buchla 200 synthesizer,
Haken Continuum, gongs, voice, brainwave modulating tones, EVI
and field recordings from the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra
Buddhist temple in Woodstock, NY.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons consists of 12 great songs. But is our world really all that similar to Vivaldi’s? Our lives and our seasons are fundamentally different now from what they were in 1725. Except maybe on a psychological level. And the psychological level has a tendency to disappear when so much of our experience of the work has to do with Baroque practice, concert halls, elevator music, and the cultural sheen in which violin concertos usually exist. 
But the piece is still out there, and we like it a lot. We’d play it in its original form if it was worth doing. But we only play new music. So we decided to turn it back into new music. Not to make it hip, just to make it worth playing, and listening to, again. So in order to remain somewhat relevant, we recomposed the work into a duo for violin and live electronics that mirrors our own four seasons. And we switched around the order of the movements to accentuate the way that the seasons tend to get all mixed up: we travel, watch color TV, and have central heating and AC – not to mention the environmental destruction we wreak on our planet. And when you think about it, a lot of our feelings for the seasons have to do with memories, and the fact that one never seems to pack the right things for the situation at hand.

Last summer Sol Selectas collaborated with Shambhala Music Festival in Canada to offer a remix competition for KLMN's song "Sabilu feat Mian". The winner was released in the fall of last year, and shot to the top of the charts. This EP is a collection of three other remix submissions from that contest, that we also think are winners.  Each one transforms the original in a unique amazing way.  Bernstein's deep melodic "Love Layer Remix" takes us to another dimension entirely, while Animal Treats delivers a gorgeous funky breaks interpretation. Estray takes us into deep tribal territory, and as an added bonus, KMLN offers their own Rework making the original more club-friendly. The artwork by Helia Jamali captures the feminine energy and message of love in "Sabilu", represented here by the deep red orange Indonesian flower with goddesses dancing around its essence.

There are no more four seasons is the name of a duo comprised of electronic musician Mattias Petersson and violinist George Kentros. They take older pieces of music and recompose them in order to once again become relevant to our times. Their self-titled debut CD was named one of the ten best classical recordings of the past decade by Dagens Nyheter, and Time Out New York called them a must see concert last summer, writing that ”the result fits together more perfectly than any Ikea bookshelf.”
