Nur das Unnütze ist von Dauer – Wendy Carlos gewidmet 
elektroakustische Komposition von Joachim Zoepf mit Text- und Musikzitaten 
Erste Ideen für ein Stück zu Adornos Vortrag „Kultur und Verwaltung“ (1959) entstanden Ende 2019, nachdem ich mich eingehend mit diesem Text befasst hatte. Nicht nur seine äußert geistreiche und differenzierte Betrachtungsweise, sondern auch seine ausgefeilte Sprache sowie feine Ironie haben mich dazu bewogen, eine Arbeit mit Zitaten aus diesem Vortrag zu gestalten. Selbst über 60 Jahre später hat dieser Vortrag nichts an Aktualität eingebüßt und die ausgewählten Zitate bieten den geneigten Hörer:innen viele Anregungen, um über den Zusammenhang von Kultur, Verwaltung respektive die Kulturindustrie nachzudenken. Die Textzitate werden z.T. durch Musikbeispiele von Schallplatten (Bach, Beethoven, Paul Kuhn, Bristol Bar Sextett) aus den 60ern Jahren ergänzt. 
Die Grundform der Komposition ist aus mehreren 8 stimmigen Dreieckswellen aufgebaut, die sich langsam kaleideskopartig ändern. Im Verlauf des Stückes kommen dann auch Sägezahn und Pulswellen hinzu. Nach ca. 40 Minuten ändert sich der Charakter der Grundform, indem perkussive, u.a. Karplus Strong Klänge sowie Geräusche verwendet werden. 
Insgesamt 16 Zitate aus Adornos Vortrag wurden in bearbeiteter Form in dem Werk eingebettet. Kurze Schnipsel der eingangs erwähnten Musikbeispiele unterstreichen die Wortzitate. Im letzten Drittel erscheinen die Wortzitate in fortlaufender Weise, die mit Hilfe von Granularsynthese, Resynthese und Multisynthese verarbeitet wurden.

Initial ideas for a piece on Adorno's lecture "Culture and Administration" (1959) emerged at the end of 2019, after I had studied this text in detail. Not only his extremely witty and differentiated way of looking at things, but also his sophisticated language and subtle irony have irony prompted me to create a work with quotations from this lecture. Even over 60 years even more than 60 years later, this lecture has lost none of its topicality and the selected quotations listeners many ideas for thinking about the connection between culture, administration and the and the culture industry. Some of the quotations are accompanied by musical examples from records (Bach, Beethoven, Paul Kuhn, Bristol Bar Sextet) from the 1960s. The basic form of the compoition is made up of several 8-voice triangular waves that change slowly like a kaleidoscope. slowly change like a kaleidoscope. In the course of the piece, sawtooth and pulse waves are added. pulse waves are added. After about 40 minutes, the character of the basic form changes in that percussive, Karplus Strong sounds and noises are used. A total of 16 quotations from Adorno's lecture were embedded in the work in edited form. 
Short snippets of the musical examples mentioned at the beginning underline the word quotations. In the last In the last third, the word quotations appear in a continuous manner, which has been processed with the help of granular synthesis, resynthesis and multisynthesis, resynthesis and multisynthesis.
