theoretic (liv) is a BK-based Black queer DJ & producer. they create a sonic oasis that honors their eclectic musical journey growing up in new jersey & pays homage to those who came before them, the founders of Black music worldwide. their mixes and music alike have been featured on airwaves near & far, & they aim to infuse soulful rhythms into any dance floor they have the pleasure of playing. 

Notes on the Mix ///
"In each of my mixes I aim to tell a story that's centered on a theme. For this mix, I was really excited to try something different. I wanted to just have fun, which meant I wanted to blend as many tracks as possible that featured Black women/femmes/divas who were pioneers of house & club/dance music throughout the 80s or early 90s. With that, of course you'll hear none other than Martha Wash, as one example. I've been listening to a lot of disco that I grew up on, especially Two Tons of Fun/The Weather Girls, so this mix centered on classic & acid house tracks that I really feel are connected to those early disco grooves. I wanted to focus on using tracks that simply make me feel good; ones where I'm guaranteed to get up out of my chair and dance around my house. The newer tracks are ones that also give off that aforementioned energy, and it's always great to hear the legacy of house/disco pioneers in the music we're making today. I'm also really used to starting out my live sets or recorded mixes at around 118 bpm or so, and working my way up to the harder & faster tracks by the middle or end point. For this, it felt good stay steadier and bring it back down to cool off at the end. I'm thankful to be featured on this series & can't wait for y’all to listen."
