Theresa’s Tears are Rob and Louise Chamberlain, a recently-formed, acoustic guitar-based duo from Hertfordshire. They write and perform their own original material, drawing on a range of influences including Ryan Adams and REM. They also perform the occasional select cover, in their own style. Both sing lead and backing vocals, blending the differing qualities of their two voices and weaving together powerful harmonies. Rob plays the guitar and Lou has been known to dabble in percussion...
Rob previously sang and played bass and guitar in Desoto, a four piece rock band from Hertfordshire, for over 10 years. The band released two albums and numerous EPs, and gigged all over the county, as well as Cambridge and London. In more recent years, he pursued his solo project, singing and playing acoustic guitar - and was fortunate enough to support renowned folk singer, Edwina Hayes, at two charity gigs. When he met Lou in January 2013, they discovered their mutual love of singing and song writing. She began to sing some backing vocals at his solo gigs and then they started to write songs together. In June 2014, they tried out some of their new co-written material at one of Rob’s solo gigs, including Lou singing lead vocal for the first time. They received very positive feedback and by July they had become Theresa’s Tears.
They performed their debut gig at a beer festival at The Jolly Waggoner in Ardley, followed by a showcase gig at The Horn in St Alban’s. They gained further exposure through playing various music festivals and countless open mic nights. Rob and Lou are very pleased to have been invited back to play at some of these venues.
However, the highlight for Theresa’s Tears so far has been performing at Balstock this year, probably East Anglia’s largest free music festival, where they opened the Folkstock acoustic stage at The White Lion, Baldock. Their performance was very well-received and organiser Helen Meissner praised the “gorgeous variety within their set”.
Theresa’s Tears have recently released their debut EP “Prey to the Bottle”, featuring three original tracks. It is available now online and on limited edition CD.
Theresa’s Tears will be making their live London debut on Saturday 17th January 2015, at 229 The Venue.
