DJ, producer and record collector Trujillo’s trajectory from Venezuela to Berlin is as colourful as his music. His well-honed sense of soul, disco and tropical 80s house rhythms comes paired with an unparalleled devotion to digging up dusty dance floor heat. 

Trujillo grew up in Merida, Venezuela, where records were a part of daily family life. His grandfather opened the city's first modern art museum and had a longstanding tradition of playing classical music everyday at lunchtime. His father had a vast collection of 60s and 70s rock and gifted Trujillo his first record when he was five years old and he’s never looked back. 

He wrote some words about his mix:

“During the last few months, I’ve been touring paradise islands in the Caribbean. Every day, I used to go to shell beach, a place with a magic view, just the perfect spot for watching the sunset and the waves dancing to the rhythm of my playlists, while dreaming to come back playing for crowds. On my return to Berlin, I decided to put together all these musical memories in a mix which I called Dreamwaves. When my good friend and fellow digger Danny asked me to join the exquisite Idle Cellar’s podcast series, I thought this would be the perfect summer soundtrack for enjoy a good glass of wine whilst watching the sunset.”

Coyote are DJs/producers Timm Sure and Richard Hampson (aka Ampo). 
Since first meeting after both becoming residents at the historically important Venus club in Nottingham, between them they spent the 90s with residencies at many of the decades most seminal parties. As well as making regular appearances at countless events such as Andrew Weatherall's Sabresonic parties and Open All Hours at Ministry Of Sound, Ampo even guested as tour-DJ for Underworld.

Coyote officially came into being in 2004 when Timm and Ampo decided to start making music together. Since taking on the moniker, Coyote have had a wealth of releases and remixes on a huge array of labels including International Feel, Aficionado, and their own Is It Balearic? imprint, which was established in 2007. Initially conceived as merely a platform for their limited edition Coyote releases, the label now boasts an impressive list of artists and remixers that reads like a who's who of the Balearic music scene. Thanks to their distinctive sound as both DJs and music makers, Coyote find themselves regularly invited to play music all across the UK and further afield in places like Japan, Ibiza and Scandinavia. This, their Sungazing-mix, is Coyote's second mix for The Sunrise Social. 
Timm Sure: 'It's a mix of two halves. The first half is soundtracking a 30 minute sun-gazing at sunrise, feeling the regenerative energy of the solar waves absorb into you. The second half is letting the new spark of energy take hold and embrace the new day'.

The Sunrise Social - Coyote (Is It Balearic?)

This mix tries to capture a certain mood in the early 80s. All of these tracks tell a story of hard times, of struggle against racism, unemployment, poverty, drug addiction, urban life, Reaganism and violence. But most importantly they also say “there has got to be a better way” 

Many of these songs look to the future. Some are afraid that there is worse to come, while others view computers and technology as a positive way forward. However, the overarching message is that change is possible, especially if you take the initiative.

The combination of all three will create an evolving resource of knowledge and experience that provides solace, inspiration, reassurance and company in difficult times.
