Noise Show - The Reverse Engineer's Abatement Mix

My soundscape composed and performed at the Futurist Meal, part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival on 31st March 2016.

The piece is made entirely from kitchen sounds, mainly gadgets as I thought the Futurists would have approved. The piece is called Polyrhythmic Salad, which was one of the Futurist dishes served up at the event.

Recipe for my sonic Polyrhythmic Salad:

Recordings of:
Onion, garlic and pepper being chopped
Various ingredients being prepped (removed from bags, scraped into pans, etc)
Frying ingredients
Gas hob (sparker, gas)
Microwave (hum, ding)
Hand blender
Toaster popping up
Wine glass
Kettle boiling (gas, electric)

Elusive Geometry: abstract showcases 3 diverse tracks from The Reverse Engineer’s forthcoming album on Floored Music. 

Metastability weaves intricate polyrhythms around junglist synths - an irresistible groove for adventurous dancefloors. Rhythmed delivers a Fourtet-esque shuffle of sampled instrumentation, vocals and beats. Post is a pulsing, ambient soundscape featuring BAFTA award-winning cellist Atzi Muramatsu. The club-focussed One Zone was written during the same sessions and is presented here as a bonus track.

Drome

Live performance with Sri Lankan drummer Sumudi Suwaweera as part of my residence at Sura Medura (www.suramedura.com/).

I was inspired by Sumudi's transcribing of traditional Kandyan drum patterns to the drum kit. Having recorded some live drumming, I isolated loops and algorithmically transcribed them to drum synths and samplers, incorporating field recordings made in Sri Lanka. Sumudi then played drum kit over these loops, resulting in multi-layered, increasingly abstracted versions of the original patterns.
