The "opener" is the DJ that arrives early to be sure the booth is ready for all following DJs. Once the venue is "open" it's their responsibility to set the vibe and pace of the room and NOT be a superstar. S/he also must support the following performer and ensure a smooth transition takes place. No pressure!

Heya people! Here's a lil story behind the set. I've been preparing my first public set for quite a while, making many changes along the way. I couldn't find the right tracks or sequence for them (damn perfectionist). At some point, they all started to feel the same lol.

Overall, it was pretty daunting. However, just a few days ago, my friend DJ Eva Moss set up all the equipment for streaming and put me in the spotlight to play during the first IG stream.

I was caught completely off guard, threw in a bunch of tracks out of my library, and started to play impromptu. So, please welcome my first set, which turned out totally unexpected. I almost annihilated my headphones while carefully selecting and preparing each next track (and some of them were pretty darn short :P). 

I hope it puts you in a good mood and gets you moving!

The 2024 festival season was filled from start to finish with good times, incredible music and amazing humans across all the wonderful events we played. This season we were asked by Earth Beat Festival to run a stage takeover right at the end of the season, what a way to cap it all off! 

We put together a lineup the we are incredibly proud of; it was diverse, fun, filled with talented musicians and didn't cater to just one type of four to the floor. We asked our artists to record if they felt comfortable, we are very grateful that most of them did. We are also very grateful they are all allowing us to release their work.

Our first DJ for the day was the wonderful Yunset. Heylady first heard her while they were having a jam at a ski lodge on a mountain last winter, her ear was turned with Yunset's selections. We asked her to open the stage on Saturday night for our beloved Hijinxx at this summer's Ignition Festival and she impressed us so much we brought her back in for Earth Beat. We foresee plenty more awesome sets from this fresh DJ, we will definitely be on her dancefloor. 

In her own words:

"When asked to open the Communicate stage takeover at Earthbeat, I knew exactly what a fun opportunity I was being gifted and I felt incredibly grateful. I wanted there to be a few twists and turns, while keeping the tone positive and uplifting throughout. My aim was to align with the Earth Beat ethos of bringing together different generations, sounds and backgrounds, to make sure the music would appeal to all ages and suit the colourful sunny vibe on the day. The smiles and energy on the dancefloor were such a joy to experience, setting the tone for the lineup of pure talent that Mel and Cyril had carefully curated."

This is my opening set before Armen Miran and Bedouin. Since it was Thanksgiving weekend, we didn't expect much of a turnout but we got a last minute surge of ticket sales and had to open the upstairs loft! The place was totally packed and everyone killed it!  I even got to play 20 minutes extra so please enjoy this ~2 hour mix.

What's it like to be the opener? It's great because you get the room ALL to yourself! LOL. 
I was tired and beat, but this gig was the best of them all.  I got to play to a packed house at Audio SF on May 18th, 2019. All my favorite people were there and most of the mixes were tolerable!  
I really poured my heart into this set because Behrouz [@djbehrouzmusicdownload] was one of the artists that helped me discover my niche. I thank him and producers alike who create so much uplifting music for we DJs to enjoy playing. Thank you for inspiring me to indulge myself in doing something I really love.
