The FBI has now detained the co-pilot who captain Brent Downs negotiated off the hijacked plane with hijackers Bobby Wayne Wallace & George Giffe. The FBI never tried to get any info from the co-pilot to handle the hijacking.

COPILOT IS IN THE CAR

FBI ASAC Jim O'Connor orders agent in tower to give ultimatum to the hijackers Bobby Wayne Wallace & George Giffe. After this transmission Bobby Wayne Wallace got off the plane to negotiate for fuel. Then the FBI opened fire on 58November. There were no survivors left on board. My father Brent Downs was the captain you hear talking to the FBI. He was killed less than 2 minutes after this exchange.

These tapes are from the aircraft hijacking of 58November in Jacksonville Florida, Oct 4, 1971. Only 9 minutes after the first clip FBI agents from the Jacksonville Field Office opened fire on this aircraft. There were no survivors.

This was the 1st time a captain had been killed in a US hijacking. The same morning this hijacking took place, J Edgar Hoover ordered that all of the agents from the Jacksonville FBI field Office be given commendations for their actions.
