For our final release of 2023, we’re pleased to present the newest work from Boston based producer and close friend of The Rust, Maxfield – a 4-track uptempo EP titled Boondoggle. This release continues his testament to versatility, blending acoustic instrumentation with mechanical sound design – exemplifying the depth of his understanding of the craft through extraordinary musicality and creative mind. 

Maxfield's repertoire covers a wide range of grooves and emotional landscapes, and a formal release from the high-energy end of the spectrum is long overdue. Boondoggle draws inspiration not only from dance floor energy, but also from the world of animals and nature – the mind-crushing awesomeness of which is enough to send even the strongest of us into a verklempt tizzy.

This project focuses on instrumental tracks made for late nights and steady movement. Rhythms pull from jungle, tech DnB, and UK garage, staying smooth and controlled rather than aggressive. The sound feels cool and slightly distant, shaped by soft digital textures, fluid bass, and a sense of motion through empty city spaces. It’s meant to sit with you rather than demand attention.
