Earlier this year Desert Dwellers released their most diverse album in the duo's long career. The Great Mystery was the first full length collaborative project just between the main founders Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, and featured a wide range of styles and aesthetics from downtempo and psychedelic dub to tribal trance to exotic house and techno flavors.

To celebrate the special release, Desert Dwellers have curated an ambitious two-part remix album with a total of 25 contributions from some of the brightest luminaries and rising talents across the underground electronic music landscape. The Great Mystery Remixes Part 2 is slated for a November 1st release on the DD Bandcamp page, and features sonic reinterpretations from Emancipator, Aligning Minds, Mumukshu, Sixis, David Starfire, Whitebear, Erothyme, Mystral, Master Minded, Halfred & Enzalla, Lulacruza, Bumble, Soohan, and Supersyllius. With artists from across the globe and musical genres, these carefully crafting renditions of Desert Dwellers' The Great Mystery are a potent combination of immersive soundscapes that pay a loving tribute to the original compositions.

For this installation of the Rusted Rhythm, our friend SubRoot has graciously provided a fresh hour of smoothly transitioned tunes for the listening pleasure of all. This adventurous mix is rife with aqueous tones and dripping melodies, and heavily explores the psybient side of broken-beat electronic music. The tempo varies vastly throughout the duration of the mix, and while the general atmosphere remains the same as a whole, there are plenty of peculiar aural rabbit holes that are all too easy to get lost in.

Rusted Rhythms Vol. 18 - SubRoot

Relativity Lounge has created a unique world of sounds that will make your brain tingle with a swagger that will keep you moving. The style is one you will only find with his unique creations, and on his newest EP ‘Defect’ it has been elevated to new heights. With razor sharp production quality and sound design unlike any other, ’Defect’ is a tale from start to finish that may be interpreted as one long progressive journey split into 4 parts. All painted with a cold eerie essence, this chilled but large funked out story is innovative and fresh. Living in a world somewhere between downtempo and heavy beats, it is unique all to its own. The EP starts off with a smooth launch that goes further into the void of sound as the album progresses and carries you to arrive at its lush last track. Dreamlike melodies float over swung beats, with crisp glitches and large bass rips throughout. In a world where lots of electronic music shares similar qualities, Relativity Lounge’s ‘Defect’ is sure to catch your ear and captivate you.
