I wrote 'Yaad Hai' back in 2016 and it was one of those songs which was just lying around. Somehow I would end up playing the song every time I found the space. This is one of those songs that just exists!

I thought of breaking into the production scene with 'Yaad Hai'. Been experimenting and producing stuff for a very long time and 'Yaad Hai' is a consequence of being relentless and wanting to do it on your own.

Somehow it is very hard to translate how you want to sound to a producer and arrival at creative differences is a given, so here we are.

'Yaad Hai' is a post-breakup song where you spend most of the time reminding your other half of how things were -  a fragile, deprived effort of arousing something in her/him, but you know it is all in vain.

Somewhere deep inside, it is hard letting go and you just want to preserve a piece of who you were and how it felt. And to a certain extent it is alright. As humans we tend to take ourselves to seriously, try to live by a lot of rules, sometimes all you need to do is just feel what you are going through.

'Yaad Hai' is my attempt at trying to encapsulate who I was back in 2016.

Presenting Chal!

I am so nervous and excited at the same time to share what's been brewing for so long now.

Releasing the first song 'chal' tonight from the project I have lovingly been asked to call 'the saby Singh experience', more on this later.

#chal is one of the first songs that I ever wrote on the guitar, almost 12 years old and still to this day, I'm terrified of performing this. It is difficult and takes me to the deepest darkest corners of what my life has ever been.

Chal is a dedication to all of us who lost our love along the way but could never let go of who we were. It is a tribute to the lovers who only understood what love was only when they lost it.

Thank you for staying with me for so long and I'll be releasing more music and tour dates starting from today.

I still don't what this song is about, and a guess is precarious. The moment you believe you have it all figured, life throws a curve ball at you; all that you know falls apart right in front of you.

The courage isn't in re-discovering the old, but the acceptance of the wrong, the failure, the misunderstanding. And the way to liberation is through the unknown, and "Kya Pata Kya Hua" is a song about the unknown.

Kaash - Saby Singh

Asma, an Urdu word literally translates to longing which is what the song conveys; Yearning for a connection with a person. Some refer to it as pining, others as ‘Talab’. Flowing with an exceptional ease, the song’s essence is in its simplicity and the emotion which is easy to relate to. The three-minute song relies on Fingerpicking throughout to maintain the simplicity. 

The plan was never to share the song on a public platform, it was always meant to be personal. It was only after I shared some snippets from ‘Asma’ on Social Media and the tremendous response from my listeners that I decided to release it officially.

Kya Baat Jo Benaqaub Ho - Saby Singh

The never ending metaphorical night of misery is what 'Raat' is all about. You long for it to settle down for at least a moment so you can have your 'night' of rest, but it doesn't.
The song resolves into 'Zuhra', which translates to 'evening star(Venus)' in Urdu. It is a ray of hope - that maybe there might still be somebody somewhere who can save you from yourself.
The song ends with 'Asma' which means 'longing' in Urdu. You realise that the person that can save you from yourself is 'you' and 'you' alone. You long for the time so that you can have a conversation with yourself, talk through your issues and be happy that somebody is listening.
