2009 was the year that the Sexby finally released original solo material under the name of the Sexby (AKA Sexby, Jamie Sexby), after previous alias collaborative projects.

The single "Accordion Drive", a driving minimal dance track rush harking back to such albums as North Star, appeared in August 2009. This was followed up by the album "Surges", mixing between dance orientated material such as "Accordion Drive" and "Rotations" with the experimental "125 Variant 1" and the ambient "Christmas Vinyl".

As a direct follow up to Surges in attitude, 2010 saw the stark Detroit single of "Tinned Lips" released on Valentine's Day with the album "Sly" released on Midsummers Day. Again the material moved between the dancefloor ("Tinned Lips" and "Moses Fantasy"), ambient lush ("Waltzing Darling?" a tribute track to Malcolm McLaren), and minimal rush ("Chorale 92").

During the period between the release of "Tinned Lips" and its album "Sly", came the release of a triple album set (released separately) known as the "Triptych". Materially they demonstrated a harder Industrial side to the Sexby's character with slow moving drones laying out bleak landscapes. Each were dedicated to the memory of particular artists who had previous worked in similar fields of presentation (Splet, Rothko and Kubrick).

Sexby is at the moment working on a cycle of new works planned for the next few years including for 2010 a single "On Matters of Life and Death" from the forthcoming "Pointillistic Sources" album, the first of many "Melody Dramas". The first Melody Drama will be a resource album presenting sources that will later be drawn upon for subsequent Melody Dramas.

Other commissions are provisionally penciled in for 2011/2012 "Killing, No Murder: With Some Additions Briefly Discoursed in Three Questions 1659" (Dramma per musica), "Serenade for Strings and Things" and Sexby's History and Stories from Municipal Parks and Commons: The Singles Collection.
