This song is a four part performance. Too the beautiful musical composition of Michael John Ropkins and Tim Irons, Kelly Jean performs the narrator, the investigator, the attacker and the victim. It was an attempt to transfer a clique film narrative into a song.

The Sexuals are named after the fertile red fire ant. An ant that flies into the sky mates and then dies as the female falls from the clouds and starts her new nest. This act of sexual death is called nuptial flight and that was the name of the 2006 project that saw The Sexuals and these songs come to life.

The Sexuals are a Sydney based bedroom recording act. The songs here on this once abandoned page were recorded in 2006 and represent the love of two best Friends, Kelly Jean & Michael John AKA The Sexuals.

We wanted to revisit the music that once set our hearts on fire, just encase someone somewhere out there enjoys the sounds we created together.

Michael John Ropkins is a multi-instrumentalist who plays almost all parts in each of the The Sexuals recordings. 

Tim Irons is an all round artist whom has written a lot with Michael over the years and play a part in many of The Sexuals tracks.

Kelly Jean is the singer and lyricist. She is a trained actor and is also known in the Sydney Music scene for fronting Sydney all girl band, bandintexas. This however is a distinctively different sound.

Road Train - Our track Road Train appeared on a French compilation CD in 2011, A French magazine review likened us to a cross between Lydia Lunch and PJ Harvey. We were pretty happy with that.

Colours - Colours was Kellys first attempt at Playing guitar, corrected by Michael later to become and Angry break up song that it is today. We decided to keep it simple.

Sonrise, although considered a demo is a beautiful piece of music and a testiment to a long lost friend taken all too soon in a car accident in the same year this song was written. We always planned to go back and fix this song but now so much time has passed I think its time to share it as it is.

Anyway take a moment to listen. There are stories here. Monologue middle 8s (some quite confronting), beautiful compositions and stories to be told. We hope you enjoy. We certainly still enjoy these tracks.

Kelly Jean and Michael John now live in separate cities but are still musical soul mates and the greatest of friends.
