There is never a good time to realize that one’s good intentions are being taken advantage of, one’s trust is being betrayed, one’s loyalty is rejected, and one’s help is ridiculed. 
I had a friend, an Untalented Mister Ripley who followed my every move and rode my coat tails in careers, work, music for over 20 years. 
He slept with too many of my Exes. I am told this is NOT normal or acceptable.  
He used my contacts and friends in the industries AND in real life.
 He shadowed me, contacting me only when he needed my help. 
This pattern, I realized too late (through conversations with his “friends” and exes) persisted throughout his relationships and he treats ALL as a means to HIS ends. 
It was only when he chose to move in close to my daughter I realized what a disgusting piece of filth this man was and that his intent towards me had always been malicious: 
Throughout my successes and joys he had been gritting his teeth, musing on his own failures and biding his wasted time to plunge his mediocre Brutus strike straight into the only thing which would reach me.
Phoebe, my daughter is my light and life and this mediocre man cannot be trusted around her. 
This song is about dealing with the emotions surrounding his mediocrity and releasing the anger I feel without taking it into a physical space..

The name -Night Kills the Day - inspired by a NYC based indie new-wave rock band fronted by charismatic , mystrerious and philosphical singer Luke Brian Sosnowski . His cathartic revelations were successfully reflected on his album - The Study of man and the developed shadow - . 
it's safe to say that this song is a combination and an overlap between our own experiences and inspirations from the outside .  
We are all coming from different musical backgrounds but it was only  adding up to an ambiguity and the stylistic openness of the track . 
Tom Morrissey is a frontman of  the Southern infused Rock/ Metal band -KILLCODE-  and Ksana Sergienko is from an alternative metal outfit - OXZANA -. 
The main theme of the song is - We will be brave enough to fight once more -, which has a tendency to steer towards an idea with emotional struggle to overcome the fear of love , trust and internal battles of the human soul in a non-cliche context .
