It all started after bagging the championship in their Alma mater's Battle of the Band way back 2012. Formerly known as Tube, The Slicks is a 4-piece band led by John Restie Cruz together with Renz Santos, Ivan Cornista, and Ralph Villafuerte. The band started performing to local pubs and barsin Malabon and Caloocan, becoming one of the regulars in the local scene of Camanava.

After a brief hiatus, (due to conflicted schedules and some changes in the roster) the band dig deeper and explored more on several genres like country, Rockabilly, and blues. They develop their sound from these influences, and emerge stronger with their modern roots rock and roll with a bit of post-punk style.

Some of their songs like "Mayday" and "Wanna Go Home" were aired at Pinoy Rock Rhythm and Blues, a radio segment hosted by Cousin Hoagy.
