along the way

I've been making electronic music since messing around on Rebith in 1996 and my official first instrument and induction to the dream when I bought a WSA-1 Technics keyboard in 1997. Prior to this purchase I studied painting and sculpture in school, so the idea of taking a visual approach to the music as well as taking full artist control by using my own tracks 100% of the time is essential. In the early years I worked with close friends on developing our sound, one person in particular stand out. Under the name Kool and the Machine my closest collaborator through the years Taraus and I have an understanding and synergy that could not be hindered for long. After moving to Eugene in 2002 I was hard at work and in 2003 I released PUBLIC LANDING and UNDER THE PIPAL TREE in 2004. By 2007 ten new tracks were backed by seven of the choice cuts from the first two albums made up the third album CHEMICAL REACTION. Live shows and CD sales made the third album the most successful one to that point. Using the original Korg Electribe series, a Korg poly-800, the Micro-Korg, and the dated Technic keyboard were the arsenal used during this period along with recording onto a mini-disc recorder there was no overdubbing just one shot live recordings. 2008 was a big leap in sound and technology, adding the Korg EMX-1 has since become my centerpiece. Between 2008 and the start of 2014 the evolution from a part-time passion to a full blown (paid) artist was complete, during this time I started playing regular live shows built a custom studio packed to the hilt with well researched gear, hardware no software. Hands on real knobs and keys is how I prefer it, NOT using a mouse to turn a knob or using a cut and paste rip off software using other peoples beats. But the most important effort made was that of my partner in music making the move from our home area to Eugene reuniting on a year round basis. We have worked together on and off for years but rarely long enough to sustain momentum. The future is in our crosshairs and we have years of back tracks and years of music to create.
