Japan’s Risa Taniguchi returns to Chris Liebing's CLR. The ‘Break It’ two-tracker marks her fourth appearance on the label.

Tokyo’s Risa Taniguchi returns to Chris Liebing’s CLR with the ‘Break It’ EP 29th August 2025. The two-tracker follows her previous outings on the label, 2024’s ‘Wakes From Coma’ and ‘So Loud’, which earned support from Dave Clarke, Kelly Lee Owens, and Luke Slater, and 2022’s ‘Acid Flesh’, in collaboration with Black Asteroid.

Title track ‘Break It’ sees Kneaded Pains, Second State, Mind Medizin, and core CLR artist Risa Taniguchi open with high-intensity built around pounding kicks and a searing synth stab. The tension is palpable as icy hats and bold low-end drive forward beneath evocative spoken vocals culminating in a dark, strobe-lit roller primed to lock in peak-time floors. There’s no respite with ‘Give Me Up’, a tense and relentless follow-up laced with razor-sharp percussion, unresolved loops, and a monstrous, rumbling bottom end. It’s precision-tooled Techno, designed to hit hard, both physically and mentally.

Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has hosted a range of artists like Shlomi Aber, Dubfire, Flug, Bjarki, DJ Dextro and more while also focusing on developing newer acts in the scene such as The Southern, and Klint.

With his modern and signature take on the groovy 90’s sound, characterized by clean but heavy percussion, he is establishing himself as a prominent prodigy in the realm of techno. His signature groove is instantly recognizable and leaves no room for stillness when interacting with his craft.

While his music is being played all over the world by names such as Adam Beyer, future.666 and Marrøn amongst others, he himself got to play at stages such as Dockyard, Klub PAN, BASIS, Now&Wow and many more.

Italy’s The Southern comes back to Chris Liebing’s CLR with the ‘Evrything’ EP, marking his fifth release for the label, set to arrive 26th September 2025. Starting with the title track, The Southern incorporates grainy, low-slung drum loops with a repeating vocal. ‘Evrything’ evokes dystopian hypnotism, its low-end pulsing like a heartbeat as its kick drum hammers through the distortion. ‘Circle of Life’, a speedy dub-infused cut that races along its swirling synthlines, follows, breaking away from the darkness to provide a moment of pure dancefloor euphoria.

Pulsating low-end power alternates with eerie minimalism, while bursts of futuristic energy and cavernous kick drums keep the tension high. Vibraform by Berlin-based hardware and live artist Peryl provides an analytical yet deeply instinctive view on music. At its core lies a certain nonchalance - a refusal to act on voices and trends while maintaining full commitment to sound itself.

Meticulous sound design, unpredictable, morphing basslines and an intentional timeless aesthetic offer a rare window into Peryl’s creative state of mind. Even as he tries to sidestep personal narratives, emotions inevitably surface in the music, subtly shaping its character. The result is not a confessional piece of work, but an abstraction that remains universal rather than private, while still carrying a trace of personal truth. Four tracks that are striking a rare balance between novelty, grace and aggressive functionality, including a remix by Rødhåd, offer to find purpose in the act of believing that sooner or later art reveals a logic of its own.

Aidan Rudd is a Naarm-based Hypnotic Techno producer and DJ. Starting out in Hardgroove, his sound evolved into darker, loop-driven techno shaped by heavy sound design while maintaining a focus on groove. His tracks have been released on respected labels like Transition, Duplicity, Obscuur, and Suara, with support from Dax J, Chlar, Alarico, Richie Hawtin, Yanamaste and more. Known for layered multi-deck sets, Aidan has played across Australia and is steadily building his presence in the global techno scene.

Born in Matera, Italy, in the 1990s, Carmine Portarulo, known professionally as The Southern, has been deeply passionate about music from a young age. His journey through music has taken him across diverse underground genres, evolving from pure electronic sounds to the early days of Hip Hop. By the age of 17, The Southern was already immersed in the world of Techno, drawing inspiration from iconic figures such as Carlo Lio, DJ Rush, Truncate, and Ben Sims. His early productions reflected his admiration for these masters, and he quickly developed a distinctive style characterized by a refined and sophisticated sound. Today, The Southern continues to push the boundaries of Techno, striving to create music that stands out in both innovation and quality.
