Monnom Black presents Umwelt's new studio album “Dead Eyes Society”, a stunning piece of work and the culmination of 30 years of artistic refinement. Umwelt is a truly rare underground electronic artist in the world of Techno and is without doubt one of the most important and prolific French electronic producers of a generation. A techno activist since the 90’s boasting over 50 releases to date. Throughout his career he has crafted a pure analog, unmistakable, signature sound, mixing dark, cinematic melancholy with the electro-techno grit he is so renowned for.

The sound of the album is influenced by late 90’s and early 00’s techno contrasted with an avant-garde approach to recording and sound design. Throughout the album Umwelt lays down beautiful grooves and his space techno melodies in uncompromising fashion, blended with classic synthwork and run through his famous analog outboard chains. With “Dead Eyes Society” Umwelt has crafted his most powerful techno album to date and solidified himself as an exceptional artist
and titanic figure of modern electronic music.

Thomas Klaps, professionally known as 𝐊𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬, is a Belgian DJ and techno producer hailing from 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐮𝐦, and currently residing in 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧. His passion for electronic music ignited at the age of eight when his father gifted him a record player, marking the beginning of his musical journey.

Over the years, Klaps has established himself in the electronic music scene with 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and 𝐝𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐉 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬, performing at renowned festivals such as 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐮𝐤𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐨𝐩, where he delivered a memorable performance in the 𝐁𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦. His music has garnered support from industry leaders like 𝐏𝐚𝐧-𝐏𝐨𝐭, 𝐃𝐮𝐛𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞, 𝐋𝐮𝐢𝐠𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞.

Through his dedication to his craft, with this release on 𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐀, he's marking his 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 from a harder, more driving sound to a 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐯𝐞-𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡. Born in Matera, Italy, in the 1990s, Carmine Portarulo, known professionally as The Southern, has been deeply passionate about music from a young age. His journey through music has taken him across diverse underground genres, evolving from pure electronic sounds to the early days of Hip Hop. By the age of 17, The Southern was already immersed in the world of Techno, drawing inspiration from iconic figures such as Carlo Lio, DJ Rush, Truncate, and Ben Sims. His early productions reflected his admiration for these masters, and he quickly developed a distinctive style characterized by a refined and sophisticated sound. Today, The Southern continues to push the boundaries of Techno, striving to create music that stands out in both innovation and quality.
