Steve and Vanessa are the two halves of The Spirits. They are a punk folk Cajon/Guitar duo who play uptempo songs with raucous beats and quirky lyrics. Steve does music and words, Vanessa does beats and production. They have been performing together for about 2 years now.

Their songs are full of quirky and playful observations on contemporary life: such as bad bosses (Ubermensch) and bad customers (Psycho Punter),  as well as the meagre compensations of romantic solidarity (Mashed Potatoes) and the lukewarm solace of the English countryside (Far From Livid London) . 

In 2018 they played a handful of festivals such as Brighton Pride, the Collusion Grow Words and Music Festival and the North Finchley Music Festival.
