Systematic Change is my 3rd EP, written from beginning to end over a combined total of less than 2 weeks, and recorded over a month and a half. This project is in response to the unrest in our society, and the world around us, regarding race and injustice.

As a Christian, as a black man, and as an artist, it’s important for me to express my sentiments towards the major issues that are impacting our culture today. Many people believe that change must occur and I too am one to agree with that. However, the greatest change that must occur is in our hearts and minds, that we may genuinely have love for God and love for one another.

“...For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.” - 1 Samuel 16:7 [ESV]

It’s through faith in Jesus Christ that God cleanses our hearts from sin to truly love Him, and God shows no partiality nor makes any distinction between people regarding His willingness and choice to save them (cf. Acts 15:8-9).

“...For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” - Romans 3:22-24 [ESV]

We’ve been through a lot as a society, and there are many uncomfortable issues that we still must address as a whole. There’s also a significant battle for identity and worth in our society, especially for black people in America, due to our history that has affected us all. Systematic Change is intended to carefully treat many of the historical issues that have shaped our American society, but also point to Jesus Christ as the means of our redemption and justification, not just for black people, but white, brown, and every color of person in between.
