Stone Jam

Shoda means "the smell after the rain" in Bengali.
It's about renewal, freshness and change following struggle. I picture the life of the garden, blooms exploding, rain drops, soil and fresh air.

This piece was based on a poem written by Modina Ferdous. Her poem - "Shoda", was translated into English, I then translated it into Welsh as the basis of this song.

Two different cultural attitudes to the rain – Welsh and Bangladeshi, both nations have been shaped by water. Every year in Bangladesh there are festivities with traditional dishes celebrating the return of the rain. Modina Ferdous follows the great tradition of Bangladeshi poets writing about the rain.

Shoda is taken from "Glaw-Shoda" a piece commissioned by Tŷ Cerdd & The Aneurin Bevan Health Board.

Precipice

Work-in-progress, unmixed.

This is a song written for the fossil fuel Divestment movement, encouraging people to move their personal money out of banks that fund the fossil fuel industry.

It was originally envisioned to accompany a video with a child's train set moving through a paper landscape showing deforestation and the ravages of industry.

There is a third section (slow tempo, spoken call and response) and coda (harmony chords) yet to be recorded, plus additional train sound effects and textures.
