BIO:
Surgeles (Kole Leijen) is a true musician with a lot of energy. He started digging into his parent’s records collection at the age of five and at the young age of eight his sister introduced him to house music. Soon after that, young Surgeles got his first set of turntables as a present for his birthday and started visiting regularly his local record dealer. While after a couple of years he started producing his own dark, deep and swerving techno. In 2005, while attending a Jeff Mills’s show, Surgeles managed to give a demo CD to The Wizard. The very next day Surgeles received a personal mail from Jeff Mills claiming that his music sounded great and that it inspired him to let Surgeles make a mix for his Purpose Maker Label. Two weeks later Surgeles’ mix was on Jeffs Mills’ Axis Records’ website for the 10th anniversary of the all-time Techno anthem "The Bells". ! Later that year, during the Amsterdam Dance Event, Surgeles won a competition hosted by Dave Clarke for the best produced track and was than picked to play on Dave Clarke’s White Noise radio show on 3FM Radio. Around 2007 Kole started throwing his own parties called ‘Civilized?” at the legendary Escape club in Amsterdam. While 2009 marked the beginning of his career as record-label boss, as he launched his brainchild: ‘Underground Freedom Fighters (UFF) Records’. ! Ever since, the collaborations with Jeff Mills kept on flowing and Surgeles' consecration came when Jeff asked him to make a compilation for his label, ‘Something In The Sky’. ! In 2017 Jeff entrusted DJ Surgeles to take care of “the Betty Hill Case”, a 12” inspired by the story and the interviews of an American couple, who were allegedly abducted by extraterrestrials in a rural portion of New Hampshire in 1961.

Wrapping up our 20th year in fine style EPM are delighted to reveal the release of 'Beyond the Reach of Time', the surprise 4th instalment of our EPM20 vinyl series from UK techno master, Regis. 

Karl O'Connor (aka Regis) has remained a maverick and iconic figure on the global techno stage, ever since his 'Montreal' EP burned his name across the world's dancefloors some 25 years ago.  His unconventional and single-minded label, Downwards, often shrouded by mythology, has also helped to launch fellow protagonist Surgeon as one of techno's most revered DJ/producers. 

Never one to tread the easy path, O'Connor alongside known projects such as British Murder Boys (with Surgeon), O/V/R with James Ruskin and Sandwell District alongside Function and Silent Servant has more recently collaborated with artists such as Ann Margaret Hogan (piano) and Justin K. Broadrick on guitar (previously of Godflesh) for a one-off concert performed live in the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, Argolis, Greece as well as releasing last year's stunning new album 'In This Is The Light That You Miss' on Downwards.  In his continuous search to side-step convention, he remains one of the more highly regarded creative forces within the British techno/electronic scene.

The genesis of the tracks on 'Beyond the Reach of Time' go way back to 1999 and thanks to various internet leaks have, over the following years, added to the mystique that surrounds them and the artist.  Recorded in a period when O'Connor was putting tracks together for both an album on Tresor and an anonymous shortly-lived house label called Housework, these tracks seemed to fit neither the hard-edged Regis sound of the time nor the Housework style and simply slipped through the cracks.

Now over 20 years after their creation we are proud to give these long-lost Regis tracks the official release they deserve.  The EP opens with the thumping yet muted tribalism of 'No Love From Above' whereby O'Connor approaches the dancefloor with malevolent restraint before 'At the Side of Silence' fuses this approach with the chord motif that runs through the beating heart of this release.

Rolling in at just under 13 minutes the closing 'Beyond the Reach of Time Pt.2' is epic in both scale and sound, its synth drenched chords taking it closer to Motor City emotionalism than anything O'Connor has committed to wax.  Its sister piece 'Beyond the Reach of Time Pt.1' can also be found on 'EPM20', the 21-track digital compilation marking EPM's 20th Year.

Grey Towers by Johannes Volk will directly elevate your adrenaline pumping with an hectic track only reachable by pushing machines to its maximum creative limit. Belenus explodes as an intense solar storm and comes with the strength usually associated with Kalter Ende.

In this collaboration, Radboud Mens and I explore the tension between stasis and movement. Operating within the realm of drone and electroacoustic music, we construct a sonic landscape where sustained tones and microscopic events constantly shape and reshape each other. What initially appears static reveals itself to be rich with detail: tiny acoustic shifts breathe life into apparent stillness, inviting focused and attentive listening.

The album emerged from a process where sound research, improvisation, and sound design merge. Self-built instruments, the search for timbre and texture, and recordings of the learning process itself form the foundation of these compositions. Rather than following a traditional musical structure, the result is a sonic field in which the minimal continually transforms depending on the listener’s perspective. This is a layered and handcrafted album that doesn’t narrate, but questions. Marking A Boundary With The Turning Point is not a boundary. It’s an invitation to listen differently.

Después de un año presentamos esta grabación muy intima realizada a puertas cerradas en el mítico Garden Club, dejamos ahora estos dos mixes para el publico en el cual se presentan en formato solitario Traversable Message, dj y productor de la ciudad de Pereira que ha acompañado por muchas noches el trabajo del club desde sus primeros años hasta el 2020.
Adicional se presenta también el dj y productor pereirano Pedro Paz aka Pvrv. Acompañando en formato B2B a Traversable Message, estos dos productores han editado juntos diferentes trabajos discográficos y dejan ver en estas dos sesiones el profundo amor y respeto hacia un club que ha forjado Y fortalecido su gran pasión por la musica y que al dia de hoy sigue siendo un gran pilar para su carrera; Garden Club ha servido de inspiración no solo para este par de artistas, lo ha hecho también para muchas personas dedicadas al arte no solo musical; sino un sinnúmero de personalidades que han expresado de una manera u otra su gran admiración para un club que ha logrado crear un sentimiento profundo de amor respeto y pasión al arte a travez del tiempo.
