2015 dachte The Timber Taal aka Marvin mit Freunden, dass Fastnacht ja eigentlich ganz nett ist, wenn die Musik nicht so schlimm wäre.

Kurzerhand verwandelten sie das große Schaufenster seiner Agentur in der Mainzer Innenstadt zum DJ-Pult. Sie hängten einen Lautsprecher zum Fenster raus und sperrten offiziell 2 Parkplätze ab.

Das an diesem Tag über 200 Piraten, Bananen, Feen und Clowns auch fanden, dass elektronische Musik besser ist, als Fastnachtsmusik hatte keiner von ihnen geahnt. Die Straße war bumsvoll. Die 2 abgesperrten Parkplätze lächerlich. Und die elektrofassenacht war quasi im Schatten des Doms geboren.

Das Jahr darauf gab es so großes Interesse, dass die elektrofassenacht ein neues Zuhause mit Bar und Toilette brauchte. Seit 2016 ist die beste Party des Jahres im schick zu Hause. Und das hoffentlich noch viele weitere Jahre!

This mix is the second part of a night long continuous dj mix battle against kleefeld. We have played two 1h30min sets each. My first part was a very basic track-after-track mix, but for this second part i have kind of remixed tracks live. 
Most of the time you hear different parts of 4 different tracks simultaneously. At some point even i lost the overview, so it got a bit messy, sorry for that ;) … but overall this is a nice way to get something new to the dancefloor on the fly.

This time it's all about live mashuping. I've played roughly 19 tracks in 34 minutes; 4 decks playing simultaneously. Except for 2 or 3 small parts, they were all looped to 4 to 16 bars.  The goal was to keep the mix interesting though the tracks were in a repetitive loop.

Actually, i get bored pretty fast. So i came up with a complete new live/dj-setup for 2017 ... 

After hours of hours and a whole lot of sleepless nights of building my new "spaceship" in Ableton, it really sounds much better and clearer than my old Traktor + Ableton-Setup! Best of all, it gives me the possibilities to dj and play live the way i like it.

What comes with an open air in the middle of the city? Right: the police! In the end they arrived when i was about to enter a downbeat afterhour mood ... sadly they turned the music off. Luckily i could play this proper techno set you're about to hear until around 6 a.m. on July 08th 2017 without interruption before :)

I edited the end a bit to finish this mix more pleasantly...

The Timber Taal is an electronic music live act and dj from Mainz, Germany.
His deep, energetic, trippy sound and eye-catching performances led him – among others - to Berghain’s Kantine in Berlin, Freud Club Frankfurt, and Munich’s Feierwerk. He supported acts like Moonbootica, Solee and Rey & Kjavik.
With his current live project MOMENTS (with vocalist and producer Maurice Kaar) he exaggerates the concept of live improvised electronic music even further.
