In 2007, The Trade, from the Angus area of Scotland, recorded a 14-track demo which they had written and perfected over the course of a year.  Their demo album ‘Empire’ would be gifted to fans all over Scotland as the band began their vigorous gigging schedule that would last for years.
In 2008 the band fought off fierce competition to make it to the final of the BODOG Battle of the Band competition after successfully securing top spot at the Scottish final which was held at Glasgow’s Carling Academy in front of a capacity crowd.  The final provided the opportunity for the band to play at the Manchester Academy, broadening their fan base.
The band landed lucrative spots supporting acts such as; The Buzzcocks, The Undertones, The Twang, Glasvegas, Twilight Sad, Stiff Little Fingers and Catfish and the Bottlemen.  The band also enjoyed success at the launch of their EP ‘Breakdown’ to a sold out crowd at Dundee’s ‘The Doghouse’.
Following on from these successes, the band recorded and released their album ‘Lie in the Dark’ in 2010 having worked at Cava studios in Glasgow and Chem 19 in Hamilton.  The album was well received and entered Amazon’s Movers and Shakers chart at number 49.  The album was further promoted as the band began a tour of the UK and Ireland playing venues such as London’s Death Disco, The Library in Leeds and culminated at Zanzibars in Liverpool.
The band underwent a couple of personnel changes and welcomed Sean Hollowmind onto drums and Stephen Morris on lead guitar.  The band began to write new material and continued their ongoing touring schedule, inclusive of a spot supporting Carl Barat of the Libertines in London.
The band then got back into the recording studio, at DM Studio Dundee, to compile their 2013 album ‘Fu-Go’.  This led onto their ‘Lifelines’ tour where they were asked to support Dry the River in Dundee.
After 7 years, The Trade decided to go their separate ways remaining very close friends.  
In 2020, the band decided to reform to celebrate their 10 year anniversary of their album ‘Lie in the Dark’, to be held at Church in Dundee.  Unfortunately due to the CO-VID 19 pandemic, the band has had to postpone their original date for this, however remain committed to putting on their show for their dedicated fans.
