THE UFOSLAVIANS are an outergalactic project/band created in 2014. by producers Haris Pilton (Dubimir) & Marco Grabber (Velebeat).
They joined forces in 2014. with aim to bring fresh wind to the world music scene, balkan beat and to show that there is good alternative way of balkan music and not just commercial turbo folk.
They are bringing us unique ''ufoslavian'' sound which is mixture of balkan, gipsy, reggae, cumbia, ska, hip hop, downtempo & electronic music ...

Still in Portland.  In fact, this track was conceived and produced from scratch here in Portland.    

I don't think the location has any particular influence on the content of this track.  I had the name, made the music, and then constructed the narrative.  

"Kestrel" is part of the falcon family.  They are known for their hunting skills and the feed on small mammals and insects.  Though many birds can swoop in on their prey from above, the kestrels are known for being able to hover, mostly in place, to give them additional control to be successful in their attack.  

...and if you suddenly saw a connection between the person you're dating and the kestrel, that would probably be the end of that relationship.  And that's the narrative that Cat shares on this track.  

The music--I think there's a comparison to be made between "Kestrel" and Romeo Void's "Never Say Never."  The four on the floor beat, the sax riff, there's a vibe they both share.  

I always say that Interbay can be almost anything...and I think this is a prime example of that.  A post-punk track not based on guitars that pushes all the way to bass house by the end.  

...and this isn't one of the weird Interbay songs that don't really work, either.  (Even I can admit that there are some of those...but I still like them.)  I think this holds together pretty well--which is why I was able to finish it on the same day I started it...not a lot of "Well, let me sit on this and see if fresh eyes give me a clue what it needs" moments.
