Nelchael - OSCILLATOR vol. ll [Default Tale]

Son of the Hearts King and a fun-loving adversary to Kris, but there may yet be some insecurities at his core about the path his father has taken following the spread of corruption down the royal family lines. He may yet be convinced to abandon his half-hearted villainy.

Jordan eventually manages to pull himself together enough to put up a proper fight. Well, as proper as he can manage. Turns out, while his actual attack power is lacking, his ability to whittle down enemies with debuffs and status ailments via enchantment of his blade is second to none in the Dark World. He proves a shockingly challenging foe for Kris and Vincent, and makes a powerful ally going forward.

I love how this sounds like a Bonetrousle. Complete accident but I kinda just went with it.

This version has a minor fix to it that was bugging me a lot. Undoubtedly someone noticed.

"Once, long ago, five lords ruled over the Dark World. The King of Hearts, the Queen of Clubs, the Queen of Diamonds, the King of Spades, and the King of Eagles. These five Suitors lorded over the realm, ruling together, and justly.

But one day, corruption sprung from the King of Eagles, and that corruption seeped into his fellow rulers. They grew despotic and hateful, sectioning off their granted lands and placing magical barriers to keep any intruders out; barriers that could only be opened by the SOUL of the KNIGHT, a warrior who acted as both an enforcer and a guardian for the Dark World and its kings and queens. 

Then, suddenly, as if he never existed, the KNIGHT vanished.

With no way to pursue their hatred towards each other, the Five turned their vices inwards, towards their kingdoms, and so did the kingdoms fester and wither until they were left desecrated shells of their former glory.

But one day, a new KNIGHT will be born amongst the humans who granted the first. And this new KNIGHT, when they are 13 years old, shall delve into the Dark World, and free it from the source of the corruption, once and for all..."

The shattered remnants of the paths between kingdoms have devolved into the void, a place haunted by a nameless, long-forgotten presence. It's mostly safe to traverse, if confusing, but beware; you may encounter someone here...

The Scarlet Slums are where the factory workers and their families live. A place of poverty and despair, it's evidence of the hyper-militaristic ideologies of the Havoc King. At the center of the sprawling maze of apartment complexes and worn-out stores and restaurants of questionable quality lies the factory itself, churning out smog that blots out the sky. And set atop the factory is the Heart Castle itself...

Peggy is a drifter who sells various items she's accrued on her journeys to travelers in need. Healing items, mana potions, weapons and armor, she's got it all. She tends to make recurring appearances, using magical gateways to move between kingdoms.

Before anyone asks, she's based on that peg game you find at Cracker Barrel.
