The lush new Benji Vaughan album, Even Tundra, drops on Twisted Records September 2nd, but TODAY, we get to give away the title track for absolutely FREE. Sounding like an instrumental from Thom Yorke's 2006 solo album, The Eraser, this dark and mysterious track is not so much bleak and brooding, as it is melancholy, mournful, and introspective. The elegance of its simplicity dives well below the surface to a rich sonic netherworld. A realm of fluttering melodies and subdued percussion. The delicate balance struck between point and counterpoint is underscored by a wistful, almost bittersweet aesthetic. And this interplay runs the course of the album. It's not psytrance, it's not Shpongle, it's not like anything Twisted has unleashed before. This is a mature record from a veteran producer. It's a look at life and love after the party. It's the look ahead, and the baggage left behind. Dive in.
