“Kicks”-Debut Album from Irish Musician "The Vinylheads"-Out Sep 1st 2015

"The Vinylheads" is the pop/rock music project of Irishman Col Patterson.

Col is influenced by Paul Weller, The Kinks, The Killers, The Doors, The Stranglers, among others.

In 2012, supported by his Monaghan and Roscommon cousins, a wedding jam session turned into regular practice sessions and eventually, some original tracks. Recorded at JAM Studios in Co. Meath by Producer Martin Quinn, “Kicks”(The Album) is the result.

In December 2014, the title single, “Kicks” was chosen by BBC 6music for airplay by Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq and was Legend Tom Robinson’s Recommends “Pick of the Week”.

Danny Gandolfi from Musicnews.com described another single "Pear" as…
.."a catchy pop song, with great jangly melodic guitar and neat, clever chord changes (reminding me of ‘The Undertones’), slowly building up, veering towards a rousing chorus and uplifting close."

The Vinylheads supported Midge Ure at the Fortstock festival in Co Monaghan June 2014. Col hopes to play tracks from the album live and release his second album in 2016.

“Kicks”, the debut Album is out Sep 1st 2015 on all digital platforms. 
Lead Track is “To Kill A Giant”, deals with Col’s personal experience of a “One Punch/Coward” Attack, the aftermath of which caused him many years of mental distress.

"Hangover Moon" is the new Album from songwriter Col Patterson- Col was the chief songwriter behind the critically acclaimed Album "Kicks" for "The Vinylheads" in 2015. 

The Kildare native explores various themes close to his heart such as love, loss, politics, injustice, the environment and mental health.

Produced by Martin Quinn of Jam Studios, "Glide" a track about imagining meeting a loved one once again, is the first single release from the Album, out on ITunes /Spotify on June 23rd 2017.

Col Patterson is an Irish Singer Songwriter from Kildare. 
The young Elvis mad Col played piano by ear as a young man and joined various local bands, whilst always writing his own songs in his bedroom.
Col formed The Vinylheads with his cousins and recorded an Album with legendary Irish producer Martin Quinn at Jam Studios. Kicks was released in 2015 to critical acclaim, receiving Airplay on RTE national radio & BBC 6Music.
In 2017, Col Patterson released Hangover Moon - This Album received 4/5 stars from Tony Clayton-Lea of The Irish Times: "Patterson in a solo capacity, and it’s a much more private experience, as the songs touch on acutely personal topics (including loss, injustice, love, mental health, family). The narrative load, however, is lessened somewhat by a collection of remarkably poised, crisp and light-fingered tunes that will have you whistling away without permission. Many highlights, including Angels on the Wave , Woodshed , Hard to Believe , Hangover Moon  & Big Lie World each of which have a sunburst pop finish that belies their sober, saying-it-like-it-is lyrics" Col released the songs Old Men Talk and Brigid's Land in 2020 to critical acclaim. Col's festive tune "Lilytown" will be released on Nov 27th.
