The King Blues - I Got Love (Live @ The Phoenix Festival)

We started recording this at the beginning of January, using the equipment we had in our bedrooms. After making a demo, we decided to record in a small studio. With all the recordings done, it was then a 4 week mixing and mastering process. Finally we came up with this; we hope you like it, and please comment!

Have you ever felt like your life’s been spiralling down,
And no matter how hard you try you have to watch it drown.
Cause your kingdom inside you, there’s nothing left you here
It’s all been destroyed by the hatred and fear.
So you retreat to your precious sanctum of your mind,
But the daemons of your feelings is all that you can find.
And it all weighs upon you like a suit of heavy armour,
You try to move your feet but you can’t go any fartha.
You have no other options so you crash down on the floor,
Your head’s pounding, you can’t take this anymore.  
And this is my world; you better watch your step,
As the charges for its detonations has already been set. 

I never thought I’d be like this when this shit begun
But its draggin’ me down, what the hell have I become?
Cos there’s no words to explain all this shit that I’m feeling
Don’t ever want to believe all this, from this fear I’m reeling.
The strings of my heart, It’s like a broken guitar,
an’ I’m missin’ my heartbeat, feelin’ happiness is so far away.
Come find me in this pit, I’m down here with the pieces
Of my broken soul, but remember I can’t get out the creases
Of my sheet of life. Oh get me out of here.

I may have done some things I regret in my time, 
But I can’t shake this feeling that this karma ain’t mine.
I try to think, when life gives you lemons,
you keep your up head high and wash off that bitter venom.
But all shit that doesn’t kill me, just grows even stronger, 
Like a cancer of your spirit waiting until you can’t fight any longer.
And you’ll wake up to a hang man and his noose,
Giving you the opportunity from this life to cut you lose. 
You keep up your bluff, tell them your fine
You don’t want anyone to know you are capable of feelings inside.
But you’re lonely in your little world built from hurt,
You walk through the streets but the houses turn to dirt.
You try to rebuild but they’re lost to the rain,
Fuelled into frenzy by feeding from your pain
Your resolve starts to fade; your back bone is breaking,
If you carry on now it’s only you that you’re faking.

But all it takes, is for you to look outside,
It doesn’t take a genius to realise.
That there are other people, who are just like you,

You deserve someone better to  reverse your frown.

So stop waiting in vain for the sun to come around, 
Get up off the floor and tear the fucking walls down.
Spread your arms out wide and embrace the sea,
No wave can dash you, not now you’re spirit is free.

And next time you descend to the prison of your mind,
We’ll be there, swords drawn, to expel any   daemons that we find.

Here's the finished demo for our latest song 'Empty Bottle'. This is basically the idea for the song, and the template to record to (just need to get into the studio). 

Basically, the only thing that is staying is the guitar. The midi drums and bass will be replaced by real one's, as well as the harmonica.

The Weekend Effect are a young 4-piece outfit from the Cotswolds. Band members George Lunn (Guitar, Vocals), Miles Jarvis (Vocals), Matt Pople (Drums), Ed Glover (Bass, Vocals) collude dynamically to blend genres like rap, pop and indie together.
