'drums' are variations of the sound of a twig break, at different speeds.  I think it sounds like axes on a hollow tree in the distance, or rocks falling.  The birds are also slowed down into a different dimension.  I wonder if this is how they actually perceive things in their world...?  It was a pretty nice session in the forest with the handheld recorder.
