'TYSHA' (Ukrainian for silence) is the second LP of Ukrainian-born, Poland-raised and Austria-based multi-instrumentalist and singer @katarina-gryvul. Following her enigmatic song 'In Coma', which released in 2020 on @standard-deviation, Gryvul delivers an 8-track long album of blooming, emotional and tactile electronica pop ballads, resulting in an intensely personal journey into the artist's inner world at the most silent time of her life.

In an attempt to deal with her decaying perception of reality and the overwhelming sense of isolation caused by the experience of global pandemic, Gryvul finds refuge in silence. She is mesmerized by the all-consuming absence of sound, and the many ways in which silence can be perceived: silky, enveloping, calm, but also caustic, fractured and sharp. 'TYSHA' was written entirely during the pandemic. Gryvul describes that being surrounded by people during that challenging period started feeling like ”a potential threat” and as something unnatural and artificial.” She says: “It made me feel like I was torn between two realities, virtual and real, and did not belong to any of them”.  

'TYSHA' sounds imminently disturbing, yet soft, with ghostly harmonics, tempis and a wide variety of   musical and lyrical influences. The album feeds from ”something that has already vanished” - a feeling of  longing in a moment of uncertainty, crystallized in balladic writing and subtle elven-like soundscapes.

The album is supported with remixes by London-based artist @floraytw, contributing on 'Bezodnya' with an ethereally soft and lyrically poetic rework and Belgian experimentalist @maoupa-mazzocchetti reinterpreting 'Tysha' as a gloomy, ecstatic and roaring piece for the dance floor.

система | system is proud to present a compilation of various Ukrainian artists and performers "SESTRO".

"SESTRO" is a compilation of electronic music from the Odesa-based label система | system, designed to bring together musicians from Ukraine who have been released on our label and performed at events we have organized. For many years we strive to cover a wide, diverse, and adventurous spectrum of Ukrainian music. The goal of the compilation is to directly financially support (ГО Сфера) Sphere (@womenspheresolidarity) which is a Kharkiv-based organization that actively helps women and LGBT+ people from eastern Ukraine in territories that are heavily affected by war. NGO Sphere (ГО Сфера) supplies crisis kits for women in frontline areas and also provides financial assistance to vulnerable groups of women, organizes legal and medical consultations, provides psychological assistance, informational campaigns, and activist events.

"We have never had an experience of working with women in conditions of stress, shock, and grief like today. Now we are trying to gather our experience and the experience of our colleagues from other countries to help deal with the terrible consequences of the survivors" - Anna Sharygina, a representative of NGO Sphere (ГО Сфера).

We believe that giving visibility to Ukrainian culture is an important part of our struggle, because Russia's war against Ukraine is imperialistic in nature, and for three centuries the works of Ukrainian authors have been denied and destroyed.
We will never agree to be dominated. We want, as artists, to give all possible support through our work to the brave volunteers now active in Ukraine, who are heroically fighting to save the most vulnerable.

Мета компіляції — надати пряму матеріальну підтримку організації Сфера (@womenspheresolidarity) з Харкова, що наразі активно допомагає жінкам та ЛГБТ+ людям зі Сходу України на територіях, які сильно страждають від війни. ГО Сфера постачає кризові комплекти для жінок у прифронтових районах, а також надає фінансову допомогу вразливим групам жінок, організовує юридичні та медичні консультацій, надає психологічну допомогу, проводить інформаційні кампанії, активістські заходи.

Ми вважаємо, що надання видимості українській культури є важливою частиною нашої боротьби, адже війна Росії проти України, має імперіалістичний характер і протягом трьох століть твори українських авторів_ок піддавали цензурі та знищували. Ми боремося проти Росії, що прагне нас колонізувати, ми боремося за нашу свободу, ми ніколи не погодимося, щоб над нами панували. Ми хочемо, як художниці_ки, своєю роботою надати всю можливу підтримку хоробрим волонтеркам, які діють зараз в Україні та відважно боряться за порятунок найуразливіших груп населення.

The mixtape is assembled from tracks found in the playlist folders of several openair festivals, fitting the definition of "summertime longing". This is a story in which the listener acts as a spectator in a large theater called "the World", without the possibility of influencing circumstances, only receiving the opportunity to watch the performance. According to all theatrical canons, the podcast is created in three acts.

Foreshadowing the audiovisual album ”Sui Noxa”, Standard Deviation releases the single ”Now And Then” by Diana Azzuz & Rina Priduvalova. Out now!

Sui Noxa (”one’s loss”, lat.) is the audiovisual collaboration of the Kyiv based, interdisciplinary artists and the second release on Standard Deviation, an ofspring of ∄, the new club project from Kyiv.

Within the video project, Sui Noxa brings a closer look on the common neglect of self-responsibility in the digital age, and the causes it upholds to those, who may try to abuse the freedom within an artificial reality. Eventually, it narrates a story on how actions in the digital world reflect back on our behavior in the real world - and holds up the black mirror right in front of our face.
