Hurricane - 10 09 2015

I wrote this song in the wake of the Charleston shootings. Then there was Tunisia. then there was Oregon. Now Paris... when will it end? Whilst this was directly about the nine lives lost to senseless violence and hatred in Charleston, I think the message is holds tue in all of these atrocities. We need to put our guns down, love each other, find peaceful resolutions to out disagreements. Love, tolerance, compassion, kindness, peace.

Put Your Gun Down Nov 2015

This was written as a direct result of the Charleston shootings in 2015. The sentiment is still the same, it's just this time it's yet another horrific massacre. How many more must there be? America must put their guns down. Too many innocent lives are being taken, too many families are being destroyed. We need to learn to love and for those with hate in their hearts to see that violence and killing is not the way.

I'm Damo and I am a blues guitar player and songwriter.

I am proud to say I am a blues musician and I am sure the blues comes through in the songs I write. But whilst some songs are probably obviously blues, a lot of what comes out there is real mix, I can't really put a specific label on it. A bit of soul, country, some folk, a little jazz, some funk and so on.

I've found that writing songs is a bit, to coin the phrase, "like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get" and that is part of the thrill of creating.

I also play in a blues band called The Whiskey Beats. We play all sorts of gigs, from pubs and clubs to weddings, festivals and corporate events. We mainly play classic blues songs by BB, Albert and Freddie, Muddy, Buddy, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Stevie Ray, Clapton and sometimes sneak a few of my songs in too...
