Frosted has pulled off a big one here as they snap up the one and only Chicago house gangster, long-time vinyl advocate and BBQ king, DJ Sneak. His debut on the label goes big, as the man often does, with 'Beat Generation' showcasing his mastery of drum loops and smart filters. It's unrelenting and funky in its own low-key way then a Horns mix brings some extra fun. 'Fair & Square' has an old school feel with sweet little guitar riffs stitched into the arrangement next to yelping vocal as the dusty drums roll on. 'Mother Of Funk' has a deeper feel and will lock you into its warming embrace.

'Basement Philosophy', the long-awaited debut album from Glasgow’s legendary Domenic Cappello.

Domenic started making music under his Hutton Drive alias over 20 years ago, releasing on Soma Records and through his own label, Seven Sign Recordings. More recently, his productions have featured on Sub Club’s Nautilus Rising, Verdant Recordings and Alien Communications.

Cappello’s very own Subculture sound is present throughout 'Basement Philosophy', in which he travels through varying sonic textures and moods, to create something which is captivating and potent in equal measure. Introductory track 'Mushroom Waltz' eases the listener in through a combination of dreamy pads and upbeat chords, before 'Midnight with T' moves into more soulful territory with a New York-inspired cut which is both moody and spacious. 'Early Flight' manages to build a cerebral atmosphere, whilst possessing the snapping drums which are so characteristic of what you can expect to hear from Dom in full flow.

'Acid Rain' carries an air of nostalgia around it, as Cappello turns to a vocal sample from friend and house music luminary Kerri Chandler’s seminal house anthem 'Rain', utilising the lyrics in a way which perfectly complements the gradual progression of the track towards a powerful, acid-tinged crescendo. This rising intensity is also present on '3am Jamaica Street', a throbbing, peak-time belter which would no-doubt be best listened to through Sub Club’s pulsating sound system. A different type of atmosphere is created on 'Moon Jump,' where languid melodies allow to create a track which does justice to the inspiration of the more house-orientated work of classic Underground Resistance.

'Basement Philosophy' rounds off with two more electro-inspired euphonies, which signifies why Domenic Cappello and Alien Communications are such an appropriate pairing. 'Burning Past’ is a blissful, floating number whereas 'Not for Instagram DJs' is an aptly-named way to conclude the album, with a driving, floor-focused beat providing a fitting and dynamic finale. Imagine Marty Bonds meets Glenn Underground.

As one of the co-founders of India’s first DJ collective and music agency Bhavishyavani Future Soundz, Jatin Vidyarthi aka Masta Justy has not just been an ever-present force in India’s club scene but also helped cultivate the same through the collective’s work across the country.

Founded by Masta Justy, Mr T, Insat, Kunal Rawat and DJ Bhai Saab in the late 90s over the shared love of raves, mixtapes and Asian underground, BFS curated events featuring d’n’b, ambient and jungle at a time when commercial venues only played Bollywood and psytrance. Through the 20 years of the collective’s existence, Jatin has branched out in radical directions – from giving a 48-hour performance at Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry, to live-scoring Franz Osten’s 1929 silent film ‘A Throw Of Dice’ – while continuing to perform on global stages.

Naturally, the experience manifests tangibly in his mix for Wild City. Jatin’s thoroughly tested knowledge of what works and what doesn’t reflects in his filler-less selections which feature only the most club-effective bangers from prominent house-heads like Joy Orbison, Sbtrkt and Martyn. Masta Justy curates with the sole aim of getting the listener’s body to move and supplements it with the effortless mixing skills of a master at work – constructing a set that is as educational as it is entertaining.
