World BEAThoven Project:

On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of nature enthusiast, humanist, visionary and composition genius Ludwig van Beethoven, an international network under the direction and idea of ​​cultural manager Darius Darek (Taxi MunDJal MusiX) produced an extraordinary album: Twenty melodies from Beethoven's works were recorded on non-European musical instruments by musicians based in the Cologne-Bonn region. This sample databank was created under the direction of Hans Zimmer's sample library developer Felix Ohlert and was then used by music producers worldwide as the basis for new tracks of electronic music.
The album now being released will be presented at festivals and in clubs and rearranged for a 35-piece brass orchestra (Youth Brass Band NRW).

As Darius Darek's academic background is geography, he has implemented sustainable, degrowth and minimalism based, fair, green, common-good-oriented and alternative ways of life into this music project. A transdisciplinary designed artivism towards a socio-ecological transformation: 

- to promote „cultural diversity“ the project is a collaboration with musicians of diverse music cultures to record a sample databank.

- to promote „cultural heritage“ the project aims to upcycle & remix almost forgotten music by worldwide electronic music producers.

- to promote „creative commons“ the sample databank and the remixes can be used and listened to for free.

- to promote „socio-ecological projects“ the remixes are presented at green, transformational or zero waste festivals, at intergenerational bicycle rides or in „freeboxes“ (https://tinyurl.com/freeboxvideo).

- to include „citizen participation“ a random local youth involvement and a worldwide production contest (in cooperation with Arts Council England) were carried out: www.globallocal.co.uk/remixspace/

- the project thus supports some of the sustainable development goals (SDGs): reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, quality education, gender equality and climate action.

Nominated as one of Reggaeville's best albums of 2019, Origin One's "Deeply Rooted" covered many bases, showing the producers deep love of dub, reggae, dancehall, hip hop and also jungle. Entrenched in the Nottingham soundsystem scene, the influences run deep, none more so than on the jungle infused "Tribute". Enlisting the help of drum & bass legend MC Spyda (known for the anthem "Tarantula" amongst many others) and afro warrior K.O.G, this tune proved very popular with fans, so we thought it only right we give it a proper release with a couple of remixes.

Stepping up first is Metalheadz very own Zero T who gives the track a sparse rolling relick, throwing back to the classic vibe of 90s drum & bass whilst keeping the emotions raw and the drums choppy. Doing the rounds as an exclusive dub for over 6 months has helped buld the demand for this killer remix. Next up, Italian soundboys Sub Alpine get their smoke on for a digital rubadub rework, building a whole new riddim from the ground up and adding their own style.

Dizraeli (Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Album of the Year 2020 nominee) weighs in to these difficult times with a club track about anxiety that transforms panic to pure dance energy, that has already seen plays from LeftO, DJ Khalab and Worldwide FM.

Dizraeli steps up to the plate as a remixer, reinventing his own track 'I Freak Out' as a slice of 140bpm gold featuring a legend of UK rap, Orifice Vulgatron of Foreign Beggars. 

I Freak Out (Everything’s Fine Remix) is the second track taken from the forthcoming The Unmaster - REmixes & Versions LP (out September 2020 via Continuous Breath). 

The first was the psychedelic Detroit-techno infused remix from Danalogue (The Comet Is Coming), and the project has many more treats in store including remixes and features from Afriquoi, DJ Simbad, Alabaster DePlume, Chestnutt (Snapped Ankles), Tom Excell (Onipa / Nubiyan Twist) and Spoek Mathambo (Subpop).
