Jasminum McMullen was born in Chicago and raised in Oak Park, IL. She developed a love for the written word early in her childhood that she credits to having a mother who encouraged her to read. Jasminum McMullen began pursuing poetry in 2010. She is the two time champion of Berwyn Public Library’s series Poetry Idol (2011). Her poem The Abandoned House was nominated for a 2013 Pushcart Prize by Chicago Poetry Press. She is the author of In My Write Mind (2012) and By The Hour (2013).
