Let this one slip out last year quietly as part of a collaboration piece for the Strugaksy Brothers book Roadside Picnic's 50 year anniversary.

Massive thanks to R P Sten for the guitar work and general introduction to the lessthanone project work.

One of the most influential works of Russian literature, Roadside Picnic was notably the inspiration for Tarkovski's film Stalker. I had worked alongside Ukrainian Game Developer's GSC in the early 00's for the first Stalker Oblivion website in the UK, so also had a lot of heart and time go into the book, film and game.

The story was written by the Strugatsky brothers and completed on November 3 1971.

Roadside Picnic was refused publication in book form in the Soviet Union for eight years due to government censorship and numerous delays.

"Arcane" is an immersive ambient track that takes listeners on a spine-chilling journey through the eerie and mysterious realms of horror. From its haunting beginnings to its crescendo of dark metal, this musical odyssey promises to send shivers down your spine and keep you on the edge of your seat.

The track opens with a ghostly, ethereal atmosphere, where ominous Guitar riffs create an unsettling, otherworldly ambiance. Faint whispers and distant, eerie sounds set the stage for an impending sense of dread. As you listen, you'll feel as though you've stepped into a supernatural dimension, a place where the arcane and the unknown hold sway.

"99 is already in the corner of the room in the shadows waiting for the chance to complete part 1 of the contract. Placing the steaming food tray on his table, he drops himself into the already sunken seat of the old musty chair causing it to creak and blow a cloud of dust into the room. 

99 has had her arm extended at the point he entered the room, pointing at the vacant chair waiting for him to sit, gambling with herself in her head to see if he lands in the spot she pointing her polished side arm at. 

Her jaw is working overtime at the now turned into gum gobstopper. A bubble is slowly expanded from her mouth and at the pop of the gum bubble 99 pulls the trigger as his head falls into her sights."
