Wrong Turn Naviarhaiku474

Whenever I hear a rhythmic noise like the sound of this downspout, or a windshield wiper, or ceiling fan, I always find myself filling out the beat in my head. So, for this submission, I decided to cut up the sample in to “calls” and did about four takes of “responses” on my drums. After that, I went back in Ableton, chose my favorite parts and added a random effect on each section, automating each one on and off.

Regardless of how I feel about the resulting recording, the important thing about this track is that I really, truly had fun making it. It was the first time in as long as I can remember that I started laughing out loud playing my drums.
