Leading Australian touring brand Thick As Thieves launch new in-house label as they welcome German duo Super Flu to deliver their ‘Pancham’ EP, accompanied by a remix from rising Australian pairing The Journey.

An influential name down under for the last decade, Melbourne-based event favourites Thick As Thieves continue to lead the way when it comes to the curation of international and local talent within the Australian house and techno scene. Featuring as the country’s premier touring company, bringing names such as Patrick Topping, Claptone, Andhim, ANNA, Rebüke, and Mathew Jonson to name just a few to Australian soil over the past few years, April sees a new string added to the brand’s bow as they launch their new self-titled in-house imprint, continuing their ethos of ‘Raising The Vibration’.

Developed naturally across the past ten years, the label will bring tracks discovered on the dancefloor to a global audience and serve as a home for fresh music from leading international names including Monkey Safari alongside exciting, rising Australian talent such as Not Just Me. Kicking things off, 9th April welcomes the label’s debut release courtesy of leading German duo Super Flu, who step up to deliver their entrancing ‘Pancham’ EP following music via the likes of Dynamic, Crosstown Rebels, and Moon Harbour, backed by a remix from emerging Melbourne-based duo, The Journey.

Title cut ‘Pancham’ showcases the German pairing at their best, combining crisp organic percussion with wavering synths, eerie eastern-influenced melodies and rolling grooves, whilst ‘Nicotine’ weaves off-kilter leads atop of wandering stabs, sharp drum licks and snaking low-ends to showcase two original cuts packed full of quality. Rounding out proceedings, rising Melbourne pairing Jacob Malmo and Tom Evans, aka The Journey, up the energy and introduce pulsating bass patterns, vocal chants and hair-raising builds throughout their interpretation of ‘Nicotine’ - shaping up a slick label debut from one of Australia’s most important players within the house and techno landscape.

Aladag is a dreamer and a doer. For a long time his main focus was being a director, writer, and producer in the film industry. Bringing visions from the mind to the screen, be they his own or helping others with theirs, has shaped a life centered around the process of creation.
However, music has been a constant companion on his journey, from the earliest beginnings - starting to DJ at age 13 and producing at 14 - to co-writing and co-producing multiple German Gold and Platinum records, until today, where he awarded the musical muse the lead role in his life once again.

He is also a river born from multiple confluences. His Turkish roots, him growing up in Stuttgart's Hip-Hop scene and later finding a new home in Berlin's Techno clubs, all within a family (both biological and chosen) which lives and breathes creativity, has blended a colorful tincture that is so clearly audible in his first release, the "Picture: Aladag" on Diynamic.

Playing with opposites, crossing boundaries and searching within. A deeply introverted human who is daring to bring his emotions to light. For Aladag, music is a connector between souls and the hero of his journey.

The German DJ and producer Alexander Gerlach started his project Niconé in 2007 in order to combine his two passions, fashion and music. Over the last few years, he has collaborated with Sascha Braemer, Philip Bader and many others. His music fits no usual genre, it is much more a feeling. Just in time for summer, and another huge season of gigs across the world, Maceo Plex returns to his own Ellum Audio with a sure to be huge new single.

This is Maceo’s first outing since his excellent Mutant Robotics release in 2018, but in the months since he has continued to be a leading light in the global house and techno scene. A spellbinding performer who takes the crowd into another dimension, the Spanish based American is just as adventurous in the studio and once again casts another magical spell with this new EP.

‘When The Lights Are Out’ is a ready-made anthem that serves up a seven- minute techno trip of the highest order. It is deep and masterfully melodic, of course, with slick drums setting an inviting mid-tempo pace and the melancholic chords adding lasting emotion to the groove. A heartfelt female vocal is the centrepiece that will get hands in the air this summer and ensure this record stays firmly lodges in record boxes worldwide.

Next to an instrumental, there is a Late Night Mix that is more driving and electrifying, with glossy synths shining bright in the expansive skies above the drums.

This is the sound of a melodic techno master at work and is another landmark release for both artist and label.

Having continued to raise the creative bar ever higher with his recent A Million Souls (BEDDIGI146) collaboration with the amazingly talented Francesca Lombardo, that was supplemented with an equally amazing downtempo Dub version highlight on John Digweeds recent Quattro (BEDQUATCD) mix compilation, Hannes Bieger knew his next Bedrock EP had to continue to push his inspiration even further and he has delivered magnificently.

His previous collaboration with Juan Hansen, the stunning Stars (BEDDIGI129) and its huge reception, meant that it was inevitable that their highly creative paths would cross again. A supremely talented composer/musician/vocalist, Juan is rapidly becoming legendary in the clubs of Argentina, guided by an exemplary ethos of mixing genres. His gentle voice is the perfect juxtaposition to Hannes drama-tinged composition.

Whereas the recent, critically acclaimed, Pele (Awesome Soundwave) album gave Hannes the freedom to explore more loose, raw and trippy, sometimes ambient musical concepts, the inherent discipline necessary to create the supremely focused club tracks for this new EP was a welcome and enjoyable change and it shows.

The essential genius of lead track Burn Your Love lies in the juxtaposition of Juan Hansens heart-melting, mellow, 60s West Coast vibed vocal performance with the music composition Hannes trademark layers of dramatic, hypnotic analogue synth magic, bedded on a perfectly dynamic, hip-swinging groove.

For the less vocally inclined, Ashes continues the instrumental production masterclass, pushing boundaries, as Hannes continues to explore his vision of the Bedrock sound, creating his distinctive brand of expertly designed melodic Techno, based around his classic kit: Minimoog, Moog Modular and Roland TB-303. It is, quite simply, a perfect finale to a most exceptional EP.
