THING ONE is the pet project of childhood chums Joey Palestina and Spencer Miles. Originally melding elements of jazz and hip-hop, they released two LPs - 2005's debut Miles From the Road and the subsequent Ghettoskylinesuburbanfarmland. Defying categorization, THING ONE went on to reinvent themselves on the dance-rock inspired Ridiculous Speed EP and the follow-up You'll Be Fine LP in 2008. After a successful US tour (Flower Booking) kicking off at Bowery Ballroom, and playing with acts such as Matisyahu, Ra Ra Riot, and Jukebox The Ghost, THING ONE took it live to WOXY Cincinnati and had their most popular single ‘Move It’ in heavy rotation on WFUV 90.7 and Rochester WITR Radio. On New Years Eve, 2016 they released the indie-pop EP Fair Weather Friends. Layered with synth-centric melodies, programmed beats and deep bass grooves, THING ONE loves to genre jump, a la Beck, Ween and Flaming Lips, with a touch of Steely Dan’s meticulous attitude and The Beach Boys creamy harmonies. They recently opened for Gin Blossoms February 25th in their hometown of Montclair, NJ at Wellmont Theater.
