naive's 20th release epitomizes what the Lisbon-based label, run by Violet, has become cherished for: imaginative yet timeless, soothing yet moody, melodic yet sonic music. Entitled 'Computer Hermetics', this new record is an EP by UrbnMowgli, a fairly new Berlin-based artist who began releasing music in 2020. We are pleased to premiere the opening track, 'Fast Love Life', a 145 bpm electro-bred, breakbeat-driven emotive dancefloor banger. It features menacing stabs juxtaposed with beautiful pads and acid-drenched arpeggio motifs that lend it a oneiric quality. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for this EP as it comes with some more serious dance floor material!

NEW HIT: UrbnMowgli - Fast Love Life [naive]

Sonic data are rich tapestries of multi-dimensional spectral information.

Three small bronze structures operate in orchestral fashion to transduce sound to subsequent stages of analysis. Neuro-Sonic Transduction recounts this phenomenon -- the mechanical reception of sound.

Sonic waves are propagated by hydraulic means (see Figure 1 - Pressure Changer).

For a detailed theoretical model of how all three structures (Stirrup, Malleus, and Anvil) operate together, see Figure 2 - Transducer Mechanics. In Figure 3 - Copper Periodicities, analyses reveal the material properties existing within cyclic data.

Lastly, the dynamic filters shaping incoming signal are reportedly composed of crystal (see Figure 4 - Crystal Wavelets), a finding with added support from DJ Satyrias.

Mechanoreceptor - Neuro​-​Sonic Transduction

Vancouver’s Destrata returns to Scuffed Recordings with three new tracks on his Keepsake EP, backed by a remix from SUCHI.

Originally appearing on London-based label Scuffed in 2023 with his Mutationist EP, Destrata picked up support from the likes of Leon Vynehall, rRoxymore, and Anz among others. Having also released with a ‘who’s who’ of electronic labels in his short career including 3024, SPE:C, and Of Paradise, Destrata was also named an artist to watch in 2024 by Mixmag.

Now returning with his Keepsake EP, Destrata describes his latest work as being altogether more melodic than his previous releases, while keeping drum work front and centre - or as he puts it, “My bass music friends think I make techno & my techno friends think I make bass music.”

Destrata’s melodically-focussed outlook is obvious from the outset, with lofty synths and vocal chops contrasting warping bass and skippy percussion across the EP’s three tracks.

Closing out the release is UK-via-Norway producer and Rinse FM resident SUCHI, who reworks the EP’s title track into a percussive, UK funky-influenced club roller.

Destrata - Keepsake EP (Previews)

"As the nights grow longer and winter settles in, Berlin's W133 is proud to present the label’s second major vinyl release. W133008, a split EP shared by label newcomer Insomniast and his friend Monibi, who returns for her second appearance, will warm up your cozy evenings or fuel sweaty club nights. This record truly offers a bit of everything.

The A-side, by Insomniast, kicks off with "Cut the Chord," a playful, house-inspired dancefloor weapon sure to light up many dancers' hearts. Following that is "Fooling Him," a break-heavy, darker rumbler packed with high energy. The third and final track on the A-side is "Istanbul," a melancholic, bassy dreamer featuring a Middle Eastern flute.

Monibi takes over the B-side, starting rough with "Your Hoe...," a 4/4 stepper which is inspired by the challenges of living and freelancing in the hustle and grind culture. The modulated vocal sample “I'm your hoe”  is about selling your labour, creativity, and skills and sometimes other parts of yourself like your boundaries.

Her second track, "...Goes on Strike," ties back to B1, offering a dreamy vibe with late '90s-style vocals, heartwarming arpeggios, and a rumbling, melodic bassline. It is a track about going on strike, interrupting the system, and taking to the streets in a joyful manner. A carefree stint of optimism.

The last track of the EP is a clashup of "Your Hoe" and "Cut the Chord" by label boss Pino Peña, combining the most energetic elements of both songs to create a powerful DJ tool.

The release is set for 1.11.24 as a limited 12” edition of 100 copies, as well as a digital release. The fully printed artwork features photography by Philipp Roth."

Redstone Press hold no punches with the release of a new EP from London based producer Gesture. This one packs a punch with this track being our pick of the lot. A heavy hitting bass track with glitchy vocals and sharp chops and changes.
